@@Ian-hw9nn Some band refers to them as field commanders if they’re a festival band and have “drum majors”. Drum majors in terms of festival are usually the ones who carry a baton and lead the band while field commanders conduct the band on podiums.

The angle reminds me of the infamous up-the-crotch shot of Gary Zinter during La Fiesta in 1984 Blue Devils.

This is so crazy- I randomly saw this in my recommended and thought it was just some random band, but upon closer inspection I recognized the uniform, stadium, date of posting... I was there! My band had competed earlier in the day. You guys sounded great and let me assure you that nobody from where I was sitting noticed this whole ordeal lol.

Ok so I saw your comment and didn't really think I could've been there but I was looking and saw the MMBA picture on the stands and realized it was the Towson uniform. I was there at states also! Can confirm I didn't notice while watching, I was too amazed at how good they were.

Good job! You are really good at your instrument and I am very impressed that you can march and play and put your GoPro back at the same time. Maybe next time just wait until the end to get it, there are always other shows. Your band sound really nice by the way! Also I am very sorry if I offended anyone with my original comment. I never intended to be rude. Sometimes I just take things too seriously. I am genuinely sorry and I have learned and will never post such a comment.

I am sorry if I offended you. I have social anxiety and all I think about when something like this happens is how other people see it. Although I do understand that it is just for fun and really should not matter, I just felt that it could have possibly waited. I will revise my comment and I am very sorry again.

You're all good there, I just don't see it as a huge fuss. We've definitely had great runs and we've had less than great runs as a band and this didn't really effect it too much. I made sure to only reach for my gopro when it blended into the show.

Maybe it's because I'm in a band that used to rarely place, but wtf would you leave your position to get a freaking go pro... at a competition????? Lol thats why I bought a chest cam. Also BIG props for thinking on your feet and committing to grabbing it

I used a GoPro for our last runthrough of our comp show last week on my mello, I was so nervous it would fall off or like tilt lol. It ended up really good actually, might do a commander cam (im a commander too lol) for our game tomorrow

This was such a hilarious series of events😂😂

watching our show. "hey Tayler. why are you the only one out of this diagonal. Tayler" I couldn't see the diagonal, because the GoPro was in the way." and the other incident. "Hey you owe our son a new GoPro. because you left the competition field before he could go and get it. Now he can't find it." So no more GoPro's

In my 7 years of marching, I've never dropped a gopro. And that's saying something as a JMU MRD tuba. HOWEVER yeah that's a no go for competitions!

@@youngson6005 My approach is when the gopros or anything else interferes with the show or their playing of the instrument you have to step back and remove that...We never use them at a competition... Check out my GoPro Show Edits over on my channel....Very difficult to edit but very cool to watch...

Yes it was, but this performance in question was an exhibition for the competition by the hosts.

It was an exhibition performance for a competition. Towson University hosts the Maryland State Championships each year.

@@Last_Survivor593 Look at the away stands. It's empty, there are advertisment banners. Listen to the crowd cheer. It doesn't sound or look like a football game to me. At the very least it's obviously a more important performace like an exhibition or something. That's why I ask is it a competition.

@@quantumchris1 I was there, watching in the stands. It was a competition for a bunch of high school bands (including mine), but it was hosted by Towson University (this band) so they just played to hype up the crowd.
