Onride on a 3D Printed Roller Coaster! - Stunt Fall
Ойын-сауық
Hold on tight, because you'll make a ride on this functional scale model of the iconic Giant Inverted Boomerang!
This model took me about 3 years to design, print and build. The train is powered through the whole track by a single DC motor; resulting in a very realistic ride sequence!
More than 1500 parts were individually printed, resulting in a model of 1.8 meters wide and 1.2 meters tall. Two Arduino controllers make sure that the roller coaster works as intended. The landscaping, including trees, the queue line, and decorative elements, brings the scale model to life.
This project enabled me to combine two hobbies: roller coasters and 3D printing. The whole process of designing, printing and building was very fun but also taught me some very valuable lessons. Implementing a mechanism to power the train realistically was one of the biggest challenges I faced.
Many thanks to everyone who followed this project along!

Some features of this scale model:
• Gates will open and close when the train is in the station;
• The loading platform lowers when dispatching the train;
• Pulleys start to rotate when the train is lifted to the highest point;
• The train is actuated through the whole layout by a thin thread. This thread is actuated by a DC motor which is controlled by a Arduino controller;
• 6 (reed) sensors in the track keep an eye where the train is, so that it can adjust its speed according to the layout;
• This model took approximately 3500 hours to print;
• The onride video was made by a tiny camera, measuring just 2.3 x 2.3 cm (Kuus Camera).

I love this video, I have known the attraction for many years. I would love to print it in 3D, could you share the files with me, it would be very nice of you. Thanks for sharing it to the community.
WOW AMAZING
Wow, this is incredible! The motor on the train is a brilliant idea

Thanks! In fact, the motor is not on the train, but down under the structure. It actuates a thin thread which “powers” the train 🙂

@@5MadMovieMakers Greatly appreciated 🙂
Literally no words for how well this was made! Even close by it still tricks your brain into thinking it's the real thing because it just looks so realistic! Very excited to see your next projects!

Aaah bedankt man! 😊
Try 3D printing your previous Knex coasters next!
Great work! I've had the privilege to see this model in person. It's an engineering masterpiece!

Thanksss Levi 🙃
OMG, THIS IS AMAZING.
Let me get my VR glasses. I wanna ride this thing.
Hallo , is het mogelijk dat je toont hoe je dit hebt ontworpen ik wil er volgens mij zelf ook een maken
Can i buy it?
