Step 1 : When your opponent draws back to strike, cut his wrists. Step 2: Hope opponent does not also know step one.

Very nice video. It's always interesting to see the similarities between koryu Japanese swordsmanship and the medieval German swordsmanship I study.

Many schools of Daito ryu teach Itto ryu. Search for the various schools of Daito ryu in your area.

Where are you looking for in Cali? The Jikishinkai practices Ono Ha Itto Ryu Kenjutsu through Sasamori Soke and there are dojo who are members out there.

@twobitmage Hi, you asked if ono-ha itto ryu was the genesis for the modern form. I read an article on its Grandmaster Sasamori Takemi, and it stated that modern kendo is in fact based on this style. It did say the footwork involved is slightly different, but for the most part it is a predecessor to kendo.

@jung567 Unless you want to try other Koryu styles(which aren't that bad by the way)you might have to move to Japan or elsewhere to study a specific Koryu,in this case Itto Ryu.

I practice kendo, and I noticed that one of the forms looks a little bit like the 3rd kodachi form. Is that the genesis for the modern form?
