Stan was first with the spring gate under the hook. It started on the Perfex thumb.

I'm getting the Onnex Clicker to replace my Shootoff and complement my Onnex Resistance. You didn't mention it, but if you end up not liking the travel and the click, you can adjust travel until there is none, and it functions like a regular Onnex Thumb. (or any other thumb release out there).

Video was great minus the resistance release portion. The hook resets on its own by just pressing the thumb barrel down! Thank you for all you do!

Great video & explanation - now looking at ordering a Stan Onnex hinge once I work out the size. It would be so much easier if I lived in the US.

I would love to see a video on how exactly you have the travel and tension set. Like how many turns out from bottom. I’m having trouble figuring out where to set mine . I thinks it’s because I understand how to set it but not understanding how it’s really supposed to feel. Thanks

I have the stan Onnex hinge and then the Stan AXIS. Both releases are the same size so no adjustments needed. The safety on the hinge is awesome. I’m new to the hinge so the first couple shots I heard the click as I was drawing my bow which let me know I needed to reset up my shot. This got me to start drawing correctly without losing arrows. The only downfall with the hinge is the safety adjustment screw is always moving so I have to readjust all the time. The axis is the thumb button with a wrist strap. The only downfall about it is it don’t come with the extra parts like the hinge. You get the small barrel with it. I prefer the larger thumb barrel so I may take the one off my hinge and put on the thumb button. I really like these releases. I have yet to be able to try the Ultra View releases cause it seems they are always sold out. Lol.

use the onnex screw that prevents your bow from going off , when setting up the resistance release . you wont punch youself in the face and you can see how much it takes to set it off.

My Scott Apex has an open hinge that doesn't require closing, it's spring loaded and closes automatically. I love it, it's heavy and perfectly shaped to accommodate back tension/rotation/pressure equally well and has ZERO travel if you want it that way.

Went with the Onnex thumb when it first came out. Had my Nock2It (Carter) completely rust out internally (Florida = high humidity!!). All stainless and coated internals for Stan made the choice easy. Might get the click now.

Love the Onnex thumb. Bought the hinge but i'm having a hard time with it due to the "punch yourself in the face" type situation on pulling it back, which means i'm not quite anchoring correctly with it. Still working on it though! And really want the new Click.

I have a sweet spot pro flex hinge but I will probably be picking up the onnex hinge. In a hunting scenario with a hinge a safety is a must (for me). There are countless variables that can effect your draw cycle when pulling on an animal which can lead to a misfire.

I hook my thumb (but not onto my finger) set it heavy and pull with my pinky (which isn't on a surface, three finger). It has worked for me since I managed to get past my TP (many years of hinges with clicks, the click warns me if I do something stupid, mostly )

MFJJ, to your comments about the practice safety rod: i honestly wonder whether it is this used for practice. I have the 3 ONNEX releases and am waiting for the click, but aside technical setup work, I would not use the safety rod for actual practice. And your body language so much shows exactly the puzzling state your mind is in: « it should have released but it did not let go ». I would fear to create a parallel mind path with such type of practice and ultimately screw up my shooting routine! 😅

I’m not sure what I’m missing about JT’s method for “Here I go!” as concerning firing a thumb release?!?! But, MFJJ’s pulling one through to a surprise has to be a more repeatable method! Concerning a button, sooner rather than later - Click or no click - TP is going to slam that trigger with the right sight picture!

How could he say resistance is for kids when his click release is basically the same except you don't hold the safety, you pull it and it has a click? I'm trying decide between the 2 but I think I like the resistance.

So, if even one of these won’t work for anyone. Well better buy a crossbow. The new one w/ click has to be awesome. I use a Carter Total Control with two adjustable moons. These can be set however you like. It has NO SAFETY like the Stan has. If you can shoot any thumb release you can easily transfer to this new one.
