@@seanzavitka6092 I've had mine for several days now. So far so good. It works very well. I have read the remotes and units die in time. So what? $20, buy another one if needed. I have a regular old Chromecast from nearly 10 years ago and this replacing it fine, along with Google TV.

@@patrickmartin4996 I agree. I had my old one since like 2019ish. The remote finally died last week. So I just bought the new one the day after. 4 years for $20. Seems fine to me.

I own several different streaming devices, and this is actually fantastic for the price. It's instantly responsive, never gets slow, the picture quality is great, and I haven't found ANY negatives for it. The $14 Onn 720p streaming stick is usable, but it's slow to respond. I wouldn't recommend it.

Out of 5 old ones, there were 2 bad ones that the remote was giving me problem but I love them and for the price it's worth it. For my kids' room, it's perfect. I'm happy they brought it back. I brought android boxes that I paid 50 to 100, and they can still be crap.

I did notice something new with this box....If you press the LIVE TV button on the remote ( button with TV on it ) it will change the home screen UI by adding a LIVE option and removing the SHOWS option. That will take you to the free Google TV Live channels guide. Looks pretty good IMO..

I already used one of these and the little things I noticed on the first one seems to be fixed on this one so this is the perfect streaming device if you're just watching TV it's perfect. Now for advanced picky streamers will have shit to say but for watching live TV and VOD it's perfect zero issues at launch unlike previous model which had kinks and things they had to patch all in all 10 out of 10 and it's Android box so you can simply change your shortcut buttons to preferred app and eliminate the homepage with custom launcher

My gen 1 is still kicking and still well worth the money. The new model is still a great price and a slight upgrade. Why do you kind of belittle a 20$ device? It's for a specific no trills market but has great value. Love your channel but had to share my thoughts. Keep it up with these discussions😅

my ONN TV box (old version) refuses to work with other power supplies other then it one it came with. Don't know what is going on with that. I wanted to give it more juice but it doesn't want it. (I tried several power sources). I wanted to plug in an ethernet dongle but couldn't get it to work.

Ensure you have CEC enabled on your tv. On the ONN box, go to settings>set up remote button. Add your tv under device and sound bar if you have one. Then follow up with remote buttons setup.

How is the Chromecast better? It's functionally identical

are you able to cast any site from pc to this device? was trying to stream a blacked out sports game that no apps carry

I bought 2 last night to tinker with. I have 2 of the old ones too.

I'm a longtime Roku user and also use Apple TV regularly. Although I didn't really need a new device, I decided to try this one for the price seeing as I was curious about Google TV's UI in comparison to what I regularly use daily. It's not a bad device especially given the price point. A few things I noticed though that I am trying to fix is one time I was watching a sporting event and the device popped up with an idle advisory that said it would shut the device off after four hours, which it did and subsequently shut my TV off. Beyond that, last night, I was watching another sporting event on the ESPN app. The streaming was flawless until about three hours in and the feed dropped with an error message. I've had the device for a little more than a week. It's a decent device, but I still have more testing to do with it and would use it as a third option seeing as I really wasn't too impressed with fire TV when I had it years ago. Roku and Apple TV are still the best primary options, in my opinion.

There are some power save features you can adjust regarding your comment. You could turn off the power save features in settings. Also, in the developer section, you can tick the box to always stay on.

I was heavily invested into the Amazon ecosystem until the Onn streaming box was released. The price is great for $20, but that was not the reason. I was completely tired of Amazon's forced ads and restrictive system. This little box gave me everything I was looking for to stream content my way. I agree with you on one point, I'm not a fan of the 2023 Onn box with Google TV. The 2021 Onn has Android TV which allows me to voice search and get recommendations from my Emby server. The new box only allows search and recommendations from paid app services. When I search for a movie or show on my Onn 2021, Google populates a list of everywhere I can watch the title from, including my Emby server. None of the others have that capability, not Amazon, Nvidia, or unfortunately, the 2023 Onn. My 5, original Onn boxes continue to work great without issue; therefore, I think we can put to rest the "you get what you pay for," reference. I do know, with the changing resolution advancements, as well as Wi-Fi 6, I'll eventually need to upgrade. My only hope is that Onn's next release will return to Android vs Google TV and have the newer requirements.

Can spectrum tv app be installed on the onn box?

Can u connect this streaming box to xifinitywifi cus the chromecast can't and the roku does but has weak signal range do it won't pick up. Chromecast does pick up xfinitywifi but can't put password it won't let me so can this streaming box get it

Honestly, these are great. I have bought 4 of the first generation (2 for me, 2 for family). We have had one out of the 4 that gave us issues with remote connection and sporadic split second black screens due to overheating. It is about a year and a half old, I can reconnect the remote if i put an ice pack on it or just use the remote in the google Home App. My other first gen is slightly older and is used more, it still works with no issues. Seems like some are just born with defects while others aren't, who knows. I just bought one of the new generation as a replacement for the overheating one. The new generation is definitely bigger, I've read its for cooling purposes to avoid the prior generations remote issue (at this point who knows). These are GREAT for the price. The new one is very similar to the old one, Android TV and Google TV are so similar which I'm thankful for. No fuss, minimal hassle devices. The 4K boxes are also quick. They're especially awesome if you run the google home ecosystem (Speakers, Lightbulbs etc). This thing has so many features compared to Roku and fire tv, especially ones in this price range. I agree with you on the reliability. It seems hit or miss, more often hits. If you're outside of your 90 day return and have a failure with the current generation, just buy a new one and return the old one in the new box 🤣 The one ONN Google TV device that was 100% crap, the streaming stick. I had one for a short time, it was SLOW. Returned it for an extra box 🤣

It has match content frame rate and game mode too

To avoid all the clutter I use wolf launcher. In fact I have wolf launcher on my 12 streaming devices

I'm from Mexico and this product is made for Walmart. I see many comments about this device and I see more good than bad greetings from Sonora Mexico... a brother bought a smartv with roku and it's good now this one has android

I have an ONN Box that went into diagnostics mode and my screen is black

I bought an Apple TV 4K in 2019 and it now won't capture, even if I hard wire it, to the network. Bought this as a replacement and setup was easy. I hope it last a bit longer than 5 times.

Someone please tell me how to do a factory reset on the NEW Onn boxes. I press and hold the reset button (up to 60 seconds) - the only thing it does it offer to "pair the remote".

Many people are getting a "LOADING ERROR" when the box boots up and it's unresponsive. Pulling the power cord or pressing holding the reset button does nothing. Please tell us now to fix the LOADING ERROR @@UpgradeGuyTech

Compared to other streaming devices (Roku, Google, Apple, etc) the ONN is the cheapest giving you 4K streaming and Google TV for $20 it’s pretty much a deal.

unlike the shield and android TV this box with google TV forces a gmail account to operate, and if you try to remove your account after sideloading any custom apps it forces a factory data reset in order to do so, so sideloading apps will be a lil harder with the new firmware update they pushed unless you keep an active gmail account on the device

My firestick i wanted to do that with and i needed to buy an OTG adapter but yes u can do it by ethernet instead of wifi u need the otg adapter.

All the reviews I've seen are good for the ONN streaming box. The box through Amazon If you're talking prime and not Roku I haven't looked too much at the boxes but I'd hate to put that much money into a big box for the streaming and have the streaming not work especially seems out I now have so many different brands on my TVs I had assumed some of them were not compatible with each other

How come on top it says for you movies shows apps library as when my on top says for you live apps library but doesn’t say movies shows .

Yea I was happy that this came back until I went to "customized" it for someone and I when I went to log out of my Google acct it stated that it would sign me out and reset the entire device. 😒😒😒😒 Its going back tomorrow, the android boxes on Amazon and ebay have Bluetooth, ethernet port and USB ports for a few bucks more. If you are just wanting a regular streaming device this is for you long as you have a Google acct.

I bought the earlier white dongle as I wanted to replace my old Chromecast I bought 10 years ago. The ONN unit ($20) is not bad. I went over and bought the new one today another $20, but you can't even go out to dinner for $20 not a biggie. I have not hooked the new one up as yet. Thanks for the review.

If you feel either the 2021 or 2023 is comparable to a 1st gen Fire TV, then you either purchased something defective from Ebay, or well, I'll be nice and say, you need help.

First off that's the old model it's $19+ and the new model is fantastic I've loaded unlinked and have tea tv, bee tv, cinema hd the format looks better than fire

Update: I bought mine and in two weeks it stopped capturing my wifi. I did all the troubleshooting tips and it doesn't work. Got a refund.

I got one. I love it. Better than the Fire TV stick. Only $20. Didn’t have them at my store. Had to go a little ways. The remote is much better than the Chromecast with Google TV.

My service is not working

Walmart doesn't seem to carry anything but the inn speakers TV sticks rolling TV stands wall stands everything is that brand. So any who I bought a speaker that came with another box base or something and I bought two rolling stands so now I've got that brand. I also have had a prime fire TV stick which I didn't care for how it worked with my TVs seem to always glitch so I gave it to my niece and I'm using Roku on both my TVs which if the prices are correct for the inn devices are a lot less I don't know how they work or which is better but I ended up with one of my TVs having the speakers of onn. So Im Not sure what's compatible with what my TVs are both smart 4K TVs one's an LG The other ones at TLC that I got at Costco. I can definitely use any help possible

OK. You really didn't review this box. Sure, anyone would perfer a more expensive box. But for just simple streaming movies and tv shows. It's gets a 3.3 out of five. But for the cost and simplicity. It's pretty good. I got one for the kids room. They were using a mi box s. But it got worn out. Thanx.

I can see you are really not a tech guy. The Formuler Z11 Pro Max is the next big customizable TV box next to the Nvidia shield and better than the Nvidia when it comes on to streaming. Not saying the Fire TV cube is not good, but Formuler Z11 Pro Max is the best even though the price tag is high, but it comes with certified Android TV, gigabit lan, 4Gb RAM, 32Gb ROM so speak up and do the research brother

The actual google tv streaming device is only $10 more. I've had one since it came out in October 2020 and haven't had any issues with it.
