NYC taxi fun fact: By law, there are 13,587 taxis in New York City and each taxi must have a medallion affixed to it. You can't just go in any taxi to wherever you like, because they can't go to certain places depending on the color. Green taxis are boro taxis, which means they only run in the borough you hail it in. But you won't be able to hail a green one in Midtown nor Lower Manhattan, as it states you can only do so north of Central Park.
