Lets be very clear: this only works if the snow is powder . . . Light and fluffy. Most snow, especially wet, packy snow, wont move an inch.

WOW.... Thanks Steve!!! I wouldn't have thought about that. My chainsaw is a Stihl 026 Winter with heated grips engaged with a switch so no worries there. I'm going to have a look at my Stihl 450 to see if it has the same option. Blowing dry cold snow is the charm.... but wet snow, not so much. Between my Kubota tractor, Arien snow thrower, Stihl 450 Leaf Blower and my trusty shovel.... I can handle almost all snowfalls this year..... so far!!!😁🤞👍

This reminded me of a problem I had with a generator. It wasn't winter, but it was a cool day (mid 40s) and after running for some time it started acting up, dropping rpm and running rough. I could not find anything wrong with it. After shutting it down and inspecting it, it would fire back up and run normally for ~30 minutes. It finally dawned on me that it was carburetor ice - something I learned from my flight training (airplanes have a carb-heat control for this reason). I got some dryer duct and ran the hot air blowing off the cylinder head and routed it to the air filter. Problem solved! Thanks for the videos, I find them very interesting and informative.

My echo PB-580t has a cold weather plug that is in position D in warm weather, move to position C in cold weather. It doesn’t define what the actual temperature for the changeover however temperatures around freezing with high humidity are the perfect recipe for carb icing. The humidity level is key. So, if you were going to use your blower in the colder months, I would say to change the plug over at temperatures less than 40 degrees F. This way you are covered. Cheers.

I go around the perimeters of my buildings and sidewalks then snowblow or plow. I clear paths on grassy areas and make areas for my animals to utilize.

we see snow like that where I live, about once a decade. our usual quality snow is the quality of the stuff you get at the beginning and end of the season. but now I'm thinking a truly creative engineer would make that cover with a bimetal strip so it would open on its own below room temperature and close above it, so it helps warm itself up in any cool conditions, just like carbureted cars had a thermostat in the air intake that would pull the air over the exhaust manifold until the engine was warmed up.

It will help more if they use a T27 instead of a T25.

Not related to the video. I have 2 husqvarna riding mowers. One is the yth 22v46 the other is yta 24v48, the 46 needs an engine . I like the 46” deck better. Can I put the 46” deck under the one that came factory with a 48’ deck? The 46” mower has manual PTO the 48” how electric PTO. Please help if you can

At least I’m not alone 😂. I sheepishly admit I’ve looked at that passage, and never bothered to look in the OM 😬 Though, in my defense, it rarely snows here. Thanks for the info Steve.

See what happens if you push that black opening valve up a little bit more sleep it fits between those two bumps better..

I don't own a gas-powered blower or gas-powered chain saw but still enjoyed these two videos very much. Plus I learned the answer to a longstanding question in my mind: What's the right way to pronounce "SHTEEL" and "HOOSKAvarna"??

I tried using my Husqvarna blower with now and on two occasions, snow got into the impeller air intake and stuck to the plastic impeller… making it unbalanced. It ruined impeller twice pretty much. So yes, blowers can be used after light snowfalls but be careful if you have a husqvarna.
