What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

    The fact that the first woman cried when she wasn’t even the primary victim of the civil rights movement…. It must have been so horrible to witness, let alone be a part of.

    I was born 1993 and even I felt moved by that woman's experience. I am blessed to not have been there to witness so much hate back then, but I would be lying if I didn't say I have seen that hate but in a smaller dose RIGHT to my face. I can't imagine seeing the world we live in now and then seeing the 60's that woman just mentioned. Even though she wasn't the primarily victim of that memory, the way her old neighbors just turned on her family for showing just a little kindness shows that she suffered. Amazing how far we have come as a society and how much further we have to go. I just hope that kindness and tolerance continues to grow and spread.

It would be harder to try and prepare and explain to a young black actress that racist comments that were going to be said about her just for color of her skin and texture of her hair were not true. Something like that, a kid that young may not understand and can really hurt their mental growth.

    My husband and I adopted a back boy and an Asian girl. My husband’s grandmother stated that we should have just waited for a white baby when we adopted our son. You know what happened? We finally let him meet her, and my sweet boy stole her heart. He’s the sweetest baby in the world. And I know he is going to continue to break down the barriers of racism simply by being himself. Now she’s in love with him, at 88 years old her heart changed.

    Those may be the ones you would expect it from. They were children of the 60s. They probably marched and protested. I am a Black woman of that era. I found my 5th grade school picture when moving. In our class we had a few Asians, a few Latinos the rest Black and White. My high school was racially mixed. Something that may be even more important is we were mixed by class. Rich, poor, middle class all went to school together. I remember in high school when our senior class picked best cars. One was a girl that drove a Porche to school. The other was a guy that had a old truck. He had built a wooden carved cover for the bed of the truck. The rich and the poor DIY examples. Now the same school is mostly Black and Latino. All of the White parents that could have pulled their kids out and sent them to private schools. The once diverse intergrated schools have become segregated.

I have a biracial daughter whose father abandoned us denying paternity and because I couldn't raise her alone for personal reasons, my sister adopted her as an infant by upon my request and she's 2 now and very well cared for and loved. @The Truth I am genuinely sorry if I sounded proud. But even Adam and Eve weren't created from a single type of dust, dust comes in many forms may it be white,brown,black or all in between. You can't just ignore what is true. You may paint me as evil or a hater but races do exist you can't ignore something which is quite apparent a black person differs than a white person on my levels and it's true but assuming a black person is less than a white person is absolutely wrong. Please don't try to ignore something factual with mere emotions.

  • @romanatkins7182

    @romanatkins7182

    4 жыл бұрын

    @The Truth I totally get where you are coming from But you can't deny something which is simple biology. God created many variations of genes for our own protection. Black people are black because Africa is a really hot continent with high hours of sunlight while white people originate from countries with cooler weathers. I meant no disrespect to anyone. I was trying to point out the truth nothing wrong in that. We have to overcome our differences but in a more truer manner, people usually sound dumb when they try to ignore their God given knowledge. Its your own personal decision to look beyond colour but I personally think that the stigmas associated with these races should be eradicated rather than just comforting ourselves with lies because at the end of the day a black person is black while a white person is white, and if you deny this than you yourself are an hypocrite.

  • @romanatkins7182

    @romanatkins7182

    @The Truth Africans are dark skinned due to high content of melanin in their skin epidermal and dermal tissue. The African continent has the highest UV radiation in the planet so it's no coincidence that darker skin will absorb and emit more radiation than a light skinned person could, this is basic biology and physics. If you don't want to view god's grace with the gift of science then only God can help u indeed.

    Wish people stood up for others in the Netherlands....people are so openly racist in the Netherlands (Holland). I was once told by a Dutch couple to "go back to my own country" in a Dutch cafe just because I was speaking in English to my father (even though I am Dutch) and then when we told them they were offensive and racist, they threatened to kill my father and got full support from all the other Dutch customers in the cafe.....another Dutch customer even said out loud in front of us to the offensive Dutch couple that they were glad that they did not "sit next to people like us" and the Dutch manager of the cafe kicked US out of the restaurant for complaining about the racist and offensive Dutch couple and he apologised to THEM about US when WE were abused by THEM! The Netherlands is an extremely racist country and the Dutch deny it by saying that they are "tolerant people".....just search on KZread "Hollands Got Talent" and a judge called "Gordon" (real name: Gordon Heuckeroth) and see his openly racist remarks to a Chinese opera singer contestant..........he represents the way Dutch people are extremely openly racist to anyone they consider as "foreign"..........I am so sick of being looked at and treated like I am some kind of alien just because I do not have blonde hair and blue eyes. Even by teachers, both at school and at university.

    saoirseronanfan wow I’m sorry to hear that, people have bad hearts even if we’re all red underneath. My advice is to stay positive and let karma and god do its job. What goes around comes around, those people will get what they deserve. When you can, move where you can, I know how it feels to face discrimination because I’m black but I keep my head up and you should too.
