Love your arrangement and performance of Just The Way you are. You have a wonderful way of bringing in the sound and the essence of the original song, while making it more doable to learn and play. I really enjoyed listening to you play this song.🌹🌹🌹

Okay you make so much sense. I have been learning piano for more then ten years I have paid for courses. Funny thing is the first technique I learned from you about how to raise your wrist, how to play arpeggios as a wave. Makes so much sense. Wow. Normally I get depressed and stop playing for long periods of time. Why because of the illness I Hacke been diagnosed with bipolar/depression I often feel like I have grown a great deal next thing you know there is something on the piano I can not do for instance I was learning 10 licks there were one hundred licks to learn something happened and so many licks made me feel dumb. Yuck so I think with your techniques I will understand better about skills I would like to learn.

Although I had lessons when I was in my teens, I eschewed the keyboard in favor of the guitar shortly after because sight reading was just not something I could grasp in "realtime". I took it back up at around age 44. I am 51 now and am pretty good - I can play complex Elton John/Billy Joel/Steely Dan stuff without much issue and with a lot of personal feel - making my own arrangements as needed (which is all printed music is anyway). I just set about to learn music theory, applied it to the instrument and went off after videos on how to play specific songs I liked. That combined with a massive amount of practice (I play at least 1 hour a day if not 2) has done the trick. I still struggle with heavily melodic stuff, and I don't attempt classical, but I can play all the songs I want, and that people would recognize :). Now I can usually figure out the entire song with just a lead sheet from a guitar site.

Elvis Has Big Ears. I've been playing the piano for 9 months , and still don't know where the notes are on the keyboard. I'd better use the flash cards. It should be the second nature. I learn a piece of music, memorize it, and then I don't even look at the sheet music any more. That's why my sight-reading skills are very poor.

Yay! You watched the whole thing! To be perfectly honest, I don't think flashcards are the best way to learn to play the piano. You learn to read sheet music and where the keys are through effective practice techniques used regularly.

You can use these concepts without purchasing my courses. But, the reason I DID make courses is because I didn't find anything online that really guided the student at every step of the journey - there are courses for beginners, or those that give bits and pieces, but I haven't found a systematic way of teaching. So, why would I recommend anyone else's courses?
