I like the LT1166 bias servo IC, which also offers over current / short circuit protection for the output stage. I have used this IC several times in high power output stages.

Nice work! Iam currently working on a M200 and was wondering about the two back2back 4,7uf electrolytic on the relay board. The two ones besides the three blue resistors. It even says there should be a diode :)

Hey Ray, I have an Onkyo M-504 that is having issues. I am not sure where you are located but I don't have the equipment to fix. I also have a 4 channel dBx amp that is not working. Where do you get those schematic diagrams?

When you use 100mV input is that peak to peak or RMS please ?...cheers.
@raygianelli3612

That was 100mV RMS, but probably closer to 200mV as the generator is calibrated into 50Ω and it was unterminated.

You mentioned it’s not a good idea to replace output transistors with aftermarket. I have a Marantz MR235 with right channel shorted transistors because of age only aftermarket are available.

When we speak of aftermarket we are referring to broad spectrum replacements such as NTE or others like them. A far better solution for output transistors is to select a current production transistor from manufacturers such as Onsemi, Toshiba etc. Look at the data sheets for the 2SA1492/2SC5200, they may be suitable.

I have an Onkyo m 504 amp that I bought in 1988 while stationed in Spain. One of the speaker select switches won't stay engaged. I think it's a bad detent. Anyone know if replacement parts can be found for these vintage amps or can this one be repaired? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated :)
