▼Synopsis
In pursuit of the notorious thief "Subashiri no Kumagoro," the Arson and Theft Investigation Squad corners him. However, Okappiki Seizo, who had been actively working as their agent, is killed by Kumagoro. Amidst the chaos, Kumagoro manages to escape from the squad. Four years later, the widow of Seizo, Onobu (played by Shinobu Terajima), is raising her young son Yusomatsu single-handedly while running a small tea shop. One day, she helps a traveling merchant named Shintaro (played by Seiyo Uchida), who collapses from a sudden illness in front of her shop. The two soon fall in love and promise to start a family together. Shintaro leaves on a business trip, promising to return in a few days, but right after his departure, Onobu is shocked to see a wanted poster delivered by the Arson and Theft Investigation Squad. The face of Kumagoro on the poster is the spitting image of Shintaro...

Thank-you for uploading this film. What a plot - doing her duty despite bringing shame on herself and feeling a deep betrayal to her husband, the gracious understanding of the senior police official (who tactfully allowed an excuse (her "dream") for her familiarity with the supposed thief) and then an uplifting ending. Excellent!
I couldn't believe That Kumagoro was a criminal. Because I always believe that there is no bad person who would be loved by a child, never.

I like this. I've seen the Onihei Crime Files series with Kichiemon Nakamura, which was very good but this one is different and I don't think this story was part of that series. Once again, many thanks SvN for serving us with excellent and absorbing Japanese shows.

while watching this, i thought of oshin from "the sea is watching". i'm glad onobu fared better than oshin, i hope she got to open her inn, and grow old with her new man

The salesman has quite different mole from the criminal that's why at the end the window and her child are very happy. It's a good twist at the end
