It reminds me of my car alerting me when I’m over the lane lines. I think it’s kinda cool but we should have the option to turn it off. That’s not FM’s fault of course.

Yeah, I was and still am stoked about the updates. But not being able to turn it off unless you race, is complete nonsense. We need to petition this.

As a 200+ pond rider . I rely on it almost every hill, enable to climb and not nose dive every time.

I turned on mission mode, which I have not had the haptic buzz issue yet with it.

So why can’t Onewheel simply limit the power output when you hit the limit? Seems limiting power would keep people from being injured

So once again, the safety patrol went too far and think adults can't take care of their kids, so those adults have to use "training wheels" too.

I agree, I rarely use the OneWheel app but today I had a need to check my battery level and the app said it needed to update to do the haptic buzz feature. No thanks, I guess I'll just never use the app again.

Their pushback method was objectively ineffective at warning riders. This system is much better. Anything that goes wrong with the OneWheel results in a catastrophic failure. It’s reasonable to have some warning to users before it fails.

I have an Electric Unicycle. When it beeps its telling you you went too far. If you do not respect the beep IMMEDIATLY you will end up on your face. I love that my EUC beeps it has saved me many times. Even riding with headphones is a little risky because you can't hear the beep. It kinda looks like they over did the beep with the One Wheel though.

My friend updated his GT, and after that he can no longer climb steep hills offroad. I did not update my XR, and now he has to walk up the same hills we bought used to ride up. Doesn't seem like a problem on asphalt. I think it's haptic feedback that shakes the motor, so it losses momentum on the small bumps and rocks. I'm talking technical clims 2-5km/h.

The one wheel just looks like something from the era of boomerangs

I just wish it wasn't in tandem with pushback and alerted you closer to the limits of the board. I feel that's why people nosedive so much. On the gt pushback occurs much, much, sooner than the motor reaches its limits, hence why people gp up to 28 an further with them. Then people ignore pushback because they know they have more room, then never get to tell when the room ends. If haptic buzz actually gave you a sense of when you are reaching the REAL limit *then* people would probably take it seriously. For example my xr has pushback at 16 but claims the top speed is 20 and people go over 20 all the time.

It might do something like that, I hit pushback before speed buzz on my gt, I only weigh like 120lbs though

My GT nosedived at 23mph while at 18% battery. Should have been more careful riding at night, as my speed perception changes. Got too comfortable. I updated after the crash. Wish I would have updated sooner.

I like it personally when I go uphill. I bought the onewheel to cruise around, not to go full send past the boards limits. I’m too fat for that. 😅

Coming from an EUC standpoint, not being able to turn the beeps off is completely normal.

As someone who rides a Master, can’t relate.

I have not updated my GT yet. I live on a hill that is fairly steep. I think it is about 15% grade. I am wondering if anyone can confirm if I am likely to have the buzz come on constantly as I climb the hill? That might be annoying to hear every time I head back home. Pretty clever they released the update to include both the haptic buzz and the custom shaping. Makes for a bit of a decision. I guess both the shaping and buzz can be positive as long as the buzz isn't coming on a little too often.

I think you won't have this issue when you adjust the tilt in the custom shaping features. You can adjust the settings if you want the nose or tail to ride high based on preference.

@@PacificForage I updated and I have yet to hear the buzz during regular riding on flats or going up my steep hill (or any other steep hills). I probably have only gone as fast as 17 mph during my rides, which is pretty typical for my style of riding just around different neighborhoods. I did a quick test ride in Bay the first day out with the update, just to hear the haptic buzz and to get a feel for what it is, and the buzz comes on quick in that setting. In the custom shaping, I have shaped the 3 most popular base shapes a good bit. I was in highline on one occasion and I think I had highline with the nose tilted up maybe .5 or 1, and I think dialed to the max aggressiveness, and I forget the dynamic responsiveness I had set, but it was probably default or toward the tighter side. Then I think I set roll to the max and the yaw mix rate to the fastest, and it was really way too much, I would say, for my taste since I could feel the nose lifting, I guess it was on slight turns, and then the Onewheel would feel like it was free rolling or getting pushed from behind I guess since my tail was lowering so much and so fast. So it was interesting to feel that extreme, but I don't recommend a setting quite like that with the roll and yaw mix rate. But it was at least a good illustration.

doesnt this drain your battery a bit more? since that its prepared to do the buzz causing over working/overheat the motor maybe?

I love this because before you didnt know if you were to fast and i took a massive fall break my hand

Where does the noise come from? Like hownare they producing that sound inside the board? Was there a speaker already in there? I'm so confused about how its just suddenly a thing out of no where

Thank God for the Floatwheel. Ever since I came across the Floatwheel, onewheel has just become a thing of the past. lol

I don't go over 20 miles an hour. I love the single touch pad. I had issues were I have to wear specific shoes to get the board to work. Now i can wear what ever.

This along with Front Fang wheels=Great Idea.

My worst wreck was a high speed nosedive. I hit 29mph and was unaware i was goin that fast. I must've missed pushback all together and the board just shut off and i went flying. So yea.. this should save some people. Myself included

im been flying all over speed range from 15-45 but I am aware of it and I have proper safety gear. Most EUCs have customizable safety setting.

@@freshlycharged Yes, is can be hard to hear, especially if there is a bunch of ambient noise. I rarely go fast enough to trigger it anyway, but in figured it would be annoying if the new feature is noticeably more conservative.

People blame FM, which they should be blaming the CPSC, but honestly the buzz is better than the beep, it’s not distracting while riding for me at least, but I do understand some people find it distracting.

The "recall" and haptic buzz was done to appease the CPSC. Once you get the haptic buzz on your Onewheel, the recall has been fulfilled. Any older model Onewheel that can't get the haptic buzz update is available to receive $100 when the owner disposes of it.

Haptic Buzz sound? About time! We EUC riders have been riding the beeps for ever and a day. Dont worry, onewheelers, you’ll get used to the buzz when you max out your 30mph. Just like we got used to our EUC beeps at 50+ ;)

If I want to push the hardware and go 50mph+ I'll build a big old E-skate but, I rarely go over 20. I've hit the pavement at 40-50mph on longboards plenty of times and I'm not trying to gain any new scars and not trying to feel like robocop wearing 20lb's of gear. For me and I imagine a lot of others boards also just feel better the control is in your ankles not higher up the body like when facing forward and on that note when you do lean for deep carves you have more core strength and can shift your cg more front to back than side to side try leaning forward vs sideways and see which feels more comfortable.

I drove a Toyota and couldn’t even peel out in it. Freedom or controlled?

I don’t really mind it on my GT but I can definitely see this being an issue with pint owners who ride at pushback the whole time due to its low top speed. My pint is re-wheeled to go faster so I’m definitely not going to be updating it.

I’ve got to contact OW. Neither of my Pints I bought in Nov 2022 will do the update so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I don’t care for myself but my kids are learning and starting to get more confidence.

Seriously guys, let me tell you, I am about to reach 10000km total riden on my sold Pint and now my GT and if you're still uncertain about updating your GT because of the Haptic Buzz, in my opinion you should do it ! I love the fact that you hear and feel this signal when you reach the top end angle of the pushback and not before that, it's so confidence inspiring. Before, I was less confident about feeling correctly the pushback but since I did the update, I ride a little bit faster on average than before because I know that until I hear the Buzz I still have "power margin" to keep me up and not on the ground ! I was not expecting these new features and since I did the update my board is way better than before in my opinion !

How do they know you race onehweels and how would you turn it off

I’ve had two nosedives with no warning so I’m interested in this. Unfortunately there’s no way to turn it off. If you don’t like it.

I haven't had a nosedive without warning in well over a year. At the beginning it happened a few times because I didn't really understand how the board worked at first. Once it clicked, I understood better the implicit limits and have had no problem staying within them. For example, I crashed going uphill early on because I didn't really internalize the fact that with extra torque needed to maintain speed uphill, there is not as much left over for maintaining balance. So you have to allow it extra margin for balance by going slower and not pushing it when going uphill. Something that might be obvious to experienced users but I didn't realize at first. I personally do not need this update and will not be taking it.

Has anyone seen online how I can sign up to be a racer in the Leauge? Don’t mind spending $99 to get this to stop.

The CPSC becomes a helpful scapegoat for FM to point the finger at. Its government over reach but I don’t believe the CPSC invented this ridiculous ORD unlock situation. Its dystopian to nearly force install an update and put the “disable sound fx” button behind what is essentially a paywall, as ORL events arent free and low income riders with 5000 miles experience may not be able to fly to Race for the Rail. Maybe if they hadnt rushed /ignored the Gt ghosting we wouldnt be here. Didn’t California pass a right to repair bill what is going on. R2R also means freedom from other people forcing repairs on you.

Im not updating my board, not worth it. Normal people should be able to turn it off, they could make you have to agree to the risk of turning it off and taking responsibility. Extra safety is good, but i know my board

@@Yielar1 which makes it more of a bummer, I have only ever ridden my GT so I have never experienced any form of custom shaping. But I'm not so much of an intense rider that I think I'd even know how to use it, the mode where you only need to activate one sensor to start it seems nice though.

@@MicahLowther they put out a very detailed video explaining how custom shaping works. The cool part is you can make small changes to your favourite ride settings instead of starting from scratch which is how custom shaping was on the XR. Zero benefit to not doing the update as the general ride and feel seems to be more polished. Had zero issues with the update but I also followed the instructions. Have a good one

I watched that video, I just mean I wouldn't fully utilize it as I don't do tricks or trails, it's my commute to work and around town, and with seeing so many people's boards breaking I don't want to risk it at the moment. But maybe I'll risk it if I think I'd use the custom shaping

We have to figure out how to turn it off. Happy they made it, but after you have 1k miles, it would get old, quick.

Not excusing FM, as they are very anti #righttorepair but the nerds that work on these boards are constantly finding ways to get into them. I ride XR 4209's and don't update the APP, wouldn't even use it, but need it for repairs.
