Oneonta New York First Impressions Drive Through

A video of our first 10 minutes in Oneonta New York. This was kind of a big moment for us because we were visiting Oneonta from Missouri, deciding if we should move there. Not an entertaining video to watch, but those familiar with Oneonta might find a first time perspective of the town interesting.

I don't care what you say, that old armory IS a castle. Everything else you pointed out I learned after living in Oneonta for a week, this was my first viewing of the town. Although I must say, congratulations for watching the whole video, you are dedicated to your community!

@lcmollohan thanks for the well wishes, Oneonta does seem like a great place to grow up. I grew up in a small town and I think they are the best for raising families.

Yep. We made the move one month after making the video. We opened up our church last March. It's called The Redemption Movement and it's on 148 River St.

I spent some time there in 2006 delivering hot tubs to Drogen's and I really like the town of Oneonta. Hope to go back and visit someday soon.

This was very entertaining. I definitely like your sense of humor. I am far from religious myself but I respect the beliefs of anyone that doesn't force theirs upon me. :) I am curious, though, what kind of church are you opening, (or may have already opened, and if so, where?)? I wouldn't mind meeting both of you, and I hope you're enjoying Oneonta!

@xoAngelicDemise Yeah, that week we visited in July, we went downtown on the weekend to check out the scene, because I heard how busy it was. And it was deserted. Then August rolled around and it was totally different.

We just opened our church last March, you should come down to River St. on a Friday evening and say hi. It's super laid back and we make it a goal to to not pressure people with our beliefs. missiononeonta.blogspot.com We are also on Facebook, look for The Redemption Movement

No offense taken Jessica. I am happy that you made it out to the show. The metal show in October was our first metal show, so it's bound to be a little awkward as we figure these things out. I am really interested in hearing your feedback on how you thought the show went, and what made it so "positively awkward" so that we can improve the experience. Feel free to send me an email at: rm.gigs@gmail.com

I get what you are saying MrNeepo. Oneonta is a rough place to start anything new. We wanted to move to a place where we thought there was a need, instead of going to a place that's saturated with churches. Here's a link from my blog that explains this Disneyland faith of mine better: missiononeonta.blogspot.com/2009/05/why-oneonta-new-york.html These past few years have been hard, but we still feel good about Oneonta.

Kaler Carpenter as a busker there for three, I fucking hate them. They've become a shitty lot, no respect or decency for the townspeople. Entitled shits. Like sorry, I'm all in favor of education (and drugs) but it's no wonder SUNY Oneonta is number one in the country for on-campus drug arrests. I can see the actions of the kids on the drugs and I can tell many aren't stoned or tripping. They're on hard drugs like coke or meth. Deff alcohol cause Pyramid liquor doesn't care much about ID. But I will say this, if y'all go and meet a nice, kind, crazy old hippy name Dougie, tell him hey for me and drop him a dub a grass. Dougie is one of the few things I miss about that town.
