I grew up in Oneonta as a kid from 94-98 or so and it has a special place in my heart because my grandpa settled there being a professor at Hartwick and that's what brought our family out there. The last time I was there was 2012 for my grandfather's funeral and it was really nice to reconnect with where I grew up and meet the people who were in my grandfather's life. Thanks for posting this video, Ford Ave is actually the street my Grandpa lived on 😀

I'm from Germany but I spent my study year abroad at SUNY Oneonta. Oneonta will always be my "home away from home", my "second home". I miss Oneonta a lot!!!

I have thought about staying one semester as an exchange student in SUNY Oneonta. Do you recommend the school and Oneonta in general? The town wasn't too small?

@@boing7793 I recommend Suny Oneonta 100% ! I had the best time of my life there ! Yes, the town is small - but it's a great college town with college vibes ( young , liberal people ). I liked it a lot.

@@judithkuzay6224 Thanks for the answer. My options as of where I can go are South-Dakota, California and NY state. Something about Oneonta just makes it more appealing to me then the other options. Good to know that not everyone hates Oneonta. I think it’s mostly locals who have lived there their whole lives who trash it on social media.

@@TheCoverageProject You can send me a message here on KZread if you want to see some old Oneonta, New York photography and I can tell you the history I know. It is an alright area. I personally love Vermont more than New York state even though some nice spots in New York too.

I was in Sal's in May. The college students were partying at all the bars and and were in big groups walking up an down the sidewalk for some senior event.

Generally I was half kidding, but as I can recall, it felt a bit eerie walking down that Main Street at 10-ish at night. Certainly wasn’t as lively as you’d hope a Main Street to be. Overall I’d take caution but I was only there for a day. Those who live there would have a better feel for the area than I would
