That intro was hilarious 😂😂 So the yfz450r (efi model) was born in 2009 The yfz450 is the carbed model The efi model changed in 2014 with redesigned plastics, slipper clutch, and a small bump in compression and it received more emissions crap. In 2009/2010 they offered 2 yfz450’s (efi machines) the yfz450x which was narrow for woods and back then they even offered a Bill Balance edition which was a sweet machine and they had the original yfz450r which was the mx width machine. As for the clutch that 3 rivet updated basket can be hit or miss i have seen guys ride 3-5 years and never have an issue while others don’t last an hour and it can be so bad where you will need to replace the cases when it blows. Another big thing that has been happening probably as long as the basket issue is the fly wheel bolts can sheer off again causing serious internal damage. We upgrade those bolts to grade 8 of higher and problem solved. The stock intake is actually fine its not that restrictive vs other atv’s the big thing is ecu that alone is why you have the dreaded bog you can get it flashed which helps or go with the vortex ecu if you take the lid off the air box and add a pipe with the vortex you will have a solid setup. After market intakes work better when you start doing engine work like head porting/cams and a bored throttle body. I’m 5’6” and i run a plus 1 stem you can get bar riser adaptors to test out vs replacing the bars and stem and they are solid.

@@JacksonOffroad25not a problem i just had a buddy bring me his quad ill post a vid soon it was making a horrible noise and sounded like it was either the flywheel or basket i pulled it apart yesterday and it was the basket caught it just in time as it did not come apart but was very close.its like 400.00 bucks to do the oem update now.

You talked about the raptor perfectly. IXCR round 1 was crazy brutal and a lot of 1st-2nd gears and the raptor just chugs along.

Okay just to clarify this ATV came out in 2009 that is when the yfz450r and they also had a 450 x model with EFI. Also when the frame became all aluminum.

Raptor: Harley of the woods oh man that's great 😂 The emissions stuff is a huge bummer. Makes me glad my YFZ is a carb'd model. If I were in the market for a new YFZ, I'd be hesitant to choose an EFI model. The first thing you have to do is throw on a proper ECU to get rid of the lean bog and that's an easy $750 out the gate plus it has to be programmed. Jets are $3. And if your back is hurting from riding, you just need better suspension and a steering stem. On stock suspension and steering, I could barely ride for more than 2 - 3 hours before my upper back and shoulders would be killing me. Just recently threw on some +2 arms, Elka Legacy's, and a +2 stem and it's night and day, I barely get sore now.

Got the stabilizer installed and new bars put on and that helped a lot of the soreness in my back. Definitely having a camera dangling off the front of my face also doesn’t help but stock suspension is pretty solid for me. Obviously aftermarket stuff is super nice but isn’t something I “need” at least not right now. ECU Intake and exhaust are a must! I had a carb model with +1 arms and Elkas before and it was super plush but also costs an arm and a leg

@@JacksonOffroad25 Glad to hear you got the stabilizer on, those things are like magic. And it was more like both arms and both legs for all that suspension, I can't ride at all now cause I'm broke! 😂

Solid points you have made. 450 is a good platform to start with. All bikes have issues that need modifications of some sort! And it's all expensive 😅😅

It’s definitely a con on the price for sure but peace of mind that you know it hasn’t been ragged out is a huge pro for me personally
Wide open trails, dunes or track get a 450r. Tight technical trails and the ability to lug your atv around, then get a 400.
@JacksonOffroad25

The raptors do pretty solid in the dunes because of all the torque but I’m partial to the 450’s myself. 400ex is the best do it all and do it forever quad in my opinion
