One of the biggest cons is the bad clutch basket design. That can be a catastrophic failure.

I've always looked at getting a new 450 but they are to expensive for me so I just have a pile of older ones and they aren't nice but I peice them together and push them past their limits so they absolutely rip but they are carbed and I don't like that part. But it was cool seeing how the new ones were. I made an r6 yfz and it was fun but not worth it I should just save up for a new one

It's a shame that the stock ECUs are so bad. Everyone says the FI bikes have terrible bog with factory tuning. Gotta drop $800 on that Vortex in addition to that $11k pricetag. Good choice on getting the Vortex with the Rossier, though! That's a great combo.

i mean 2021 is like a new bike. am more curious how you compare a 2nd hand yfz450 like a 2004 or 2008 model i feel like those are money pits a new one like urs probably be fine for a bit... i got one with a friend and got damn we got it cheap 1000€ but it all fucked we got it running, but it already was bad we didnt know and the head where the camps go and the cam cover are fuck, cams are fine but it ate the head... and we toke it apart a again (10th time) and toke a closer look and saw it has a hotrod crank, and piston is oem yamaha and cylinder still has the hone marks (we already saw that the first time we toke it apart) but it looks like it had a full rebuild done, but bad and the head was already damaged or something and they didnt replace it and it never ran good after the full rebuild i guess, cause bolds were lose inside the engine, gaskets new but badly put on... ow airbox cover cut open, bmc air filter, and the carb had the jet in the bowl... so we put that back it had a 168 jet and 48 pilot jet, it has a half exhaust but stock pipe. its all fucked up nothing is right... anyway and now we got a problem the head is not buyable new from yamaha and all the 2nd hand one we see are same or worse shape then ours.. im not hating 450 bikes but they do seem like a headache of machine if you get trouble.. i love my banshee its simple we rebuild the full engine with my friend piece of cake.. the yfz450 is not hard to take apart and do the timing chain and shit but a lot of part that can go wrong... were sad cause it ran fine but we basicly fuked it more then it was already... 450 are cool but you gotta have the money to keep it maintained... or be a good mecanic your self.. and still parts can be hard to find in good shape for them old quads... compared to my trx300ex its like a piece of cake it always drives leaks oil but runs good maintenance nah u can buy a full engine for the price of one engine piece of a 450 i always saw to my friend who wants a 450 ltr cause he has a ltz400 road legal its great i tell him if you want 450, have a budget to fix it, cause u dont know what has been done to it.. while ur 400 u done a lot of work on it bearing overal anything exterior the engine u did, imagine u get a 450 and it has been trashed u dont know... i can understand he want more power but at the same time, im scared of 450 only cause if they break u bet u can spend a couple of grant on parts

We had similar issues with an 08 YFZ we had on the channel years ago, ended up selling it off to avoid more headaches with it. Fuel injected bikes we’ve had seem to have less problems from our experience. Our 08 LTR has given us no issues in 3 years of ownership of hard riding

@@lifeatv ah okay yeah just like i tought cause now am looking for parts for the yfz450 from 2004 and all the parts i find 2nd hand are bad... alot of them have bad head were the cam shafts are and mess shit up.. it sucks cause it ran but it was just a tiking time bomb so yeah was a bad suprise when we toke it apart and it was even worse... and now we are stuck, and okay yeah ltr maybe have less problems, cause i dont see that often them for sale ofr parts sometimes with injection problems or a gearbox, but that is about it (still anoying if your gearbox fails) but yeah good to know that ltr450 seems more relable then a yfz

The emissions on the newer bikes is quite severe, a brand new YFZ is quite slow more comparable to a 400ex trust us we’d know but after you dump around $1000 into it, it becomes a beast!
