#contentcars #alfa #gt #cartwitter
Hi Folks
Its been 12 months since l picked up the GT, this video will go through the good, bad and the ugly of my experience of Alfa ownership so far.
I've included some footage over that time, including the time we went to the Black Mountains in Wales.
I hope you enjoy this video, if so please don't forget to hit the like button and subscribe to the channel to look out for more upcoming content.
I want to say thanks to Alan at Prime Vinyl for helping me come with some of the designs of my merchandise. He can be found at @prime_vinyl

The 1.8 twin spark is a great engine. Fantastic sound and feel. It’s the last alfa using it and the last real alfa romeo engine design.

I'm driving a GT 1.9 jtdm. Daily driver. I love this car. Its 19 years old and every day it draws attention when driving to work and back. Try michelin primacy 4. You won't believe what big difference it make to any car. Thanks for video

Utterly gorgeous cars! I’ve almost taken the plunge and bought one twice now - first time round though I ended up buying a 156 Sportwagon, which I still regret selling, and last time I ended up buying my current car, a Giulietta. These are still beautiful though, practical too with the hatchback. A serious bargain now. As others have said though, the upper wishbones are almost service items, as they are in the 156 too!

Bought my GT JTDm blackline in 2016, still have it and still love it, some pretty major upgrades so far including LSD, Eibach anti-roll bars, hybrid turbo, mapped to 256BHp and many more. Have spent a lot and have more to spend, managed to get a set of adjustable sway bars and looking for adjustable tie rods for the front so I can lower the car and have camber adjustment to keep the geometry right. Ref the 159, they are, and feel it, a much heavier car than the GT, the GT does drive better. I was looking at Breras at one point but ditched that idea because of the weight. Also own a MiTo and a 166, both brilliant cars in their own right.

I had a JTS GT years ago. Main dealer supplied, good warranty, but it was still a bit of a dog and I got rid after a year, much to the amusement of my friends who enjoyed taking the mick out of the Alfa stereotypes. Yet here I am, 12 years later looking at getting another one. Definitely something about them!

I've been advised to stay away from the JTS and went with the TS.

@@contentcars funnily enough the engine wasn't the issue - just lots of little electrical gremlins, coupled with awful main dealer service that just left a sour taste in the mouth so I just threw my toys out and sold it privately. Daft really as I had sorted all the problems and probably had a good car at that point. But when you lose your patience then that's that!!

Don't get the JTS. Get the Twin Spark or the V6. Wonderful engines. The JTD is supposedly also very good.

Recently purchased a 2009 3.2 GT and honestly I can’t see the reason why you would take a 4cyl version with the prices on offer now. Not expensive for the driving enjoyment of the Busso!

Love the GT. Always wanted to get the busso one but never seem to have got round to it, might have to get one before electric cars become the norm.

I've had 3 GT's the upper wishbone is practically a service item , and at 170k anything that comes up is fair enough and can't really be attributed to build quality....I'm now on my 14th Alfa, a 2008 Brera S 2.2 , a very special car that puts a smile on my face every time I drive it .

Gorgeous thing, i'm on my second Alfa, a 2010 159 Tbi Ti, had a 155 wide body 2.0 TS years ago and stupidly sold it as the cam belt was due. If you are after a 159 do your research, i nearly gave up on one as i didn't want a diesel (a hell of a lot are), and the 2.2 Petrol (Vauxhall based) can suffer from very expensive cam chain issues as can the 3.2 V6 (also Vauxhall based), didn't want the 3.2 anyway as it's £640 a year for road tax, that just left the petrol 1750 Tbi which is scarce, the 1750 is an Alfa engine, has a cam belt and pretty much trouble free, one was for sale which was way over my budget at £5600 (my budget was 3K) but i dug deep and went for it, it's amazing, has been re-mapped to 240bhp so is fast, it's a gorgeous looking thing and drives superb, need to watch the gearbox's as it's the notorious M32 box (the 2.0 and 2.4 JTDM and the 3.2 JTS had the much better M40 box), and front and rear subframes can rot.

Thanks Dingo, yeah when l get a 159 SW it will have to be the 1750 TBi. I'm in no rush for one :)

Great video and good to hear that you’re still enthusiastic about the GT. I’ve had my GT for about 8 years now, same colour as yours, Cloverleaf Q2 but with the diesel engine. I’m also in Weston and have seen you in yours a couple of times, it looks great on the road. I’ve had a few infuriating problems over the years but everything can be solved. Just had the wheels refurbed and although expensive, it’s transformed the look of the car. I don’t think I’ll ever sell mine, I love it and I think in about 10 to 15 years time it will be a classic and worth a fair amount of money, just look at the 70’s 105 series GTs! If I can help with any advice at all, give me a shout! Best wishes Haydn.

@@haydnedwards9314 @Haydn Edwards oh wow, Yeah l heard there was another Atlantico Blue GT in Weston, but I've never seen you. Where did you get Yours wheels refurbished? l got a quote of around £290 from the wheel specialist down wintertime Road. lovely guy down there very helpful. I've had a few little gremlins over the past year, but overall I'm thrilled with it. What's your twitter handle?

I got the wheels done at PCL in Bridgewater, they also did an alloy weld repair as it turns out there was a chunk missing that the previous owner had repaired with filler! Bit pricey at £400 but they did a fantastic job. I was told that putting old tyres back on wasn’t a good idea as they are stiff and fitters couldn’t guarantee not damaging the new powder coating. So with new rubber it was all a bit expensive but it made such a difference. I’m afraid I’m not on twitter as I’m an old git and not too good with social media! I’m in the Wick St Lawrence area if you ever fancy comparing cars?

Which rear shock absorber did you use? Do you have the part number? I also have a GT with the original sports suspension (Blackline Q2) and can only find standard/ normal rear shockers.
