The minimalistic feel of the original fits Demon's Souls 2009. The more grandiose feel of this version fits Demon's Souls remake. They're both great versions of a great piece.
I didn’t realize people disliked this, I thought this was a perfect song

I don't think so, as far as the remake ost goes this is probably one of the better and more faithful ones. It just doesn't feel as impactful as the original as far as I am concerned

@@Mattroid99 The new OST is not bad, its just don't fit the game as well as the original, they made a god of war ost.

“Soul of the mind, key to life's ether. Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel. Let strength be granted so the world might be mended... so the world might be mended.”
I think this one had a very good idea of what it was doing. It took a really gloomy track, kept that vibe, and just built on it in a way that didn't descend into just loud noise. I think this was very true to the original, and a very fitting enhancement.

With this new soundtrack, I feel like a hero more than the villain I became throughout the game.
I really like how it introduces the classic piano progression at around 1:21, the buildups in general I find much better in this than the original (for example 1:50 up to 2:17). Great arrangement.
So beautiful
one word to describe this beatiful
Its beatiful.
souls game, it s just a very good games ❤
What a beauliful music !!
Gives me goosebumps
The remake makes you can die a hero... The original makes you live long enough to see yourself become a villain
Welcome to souls. Prepare to die.
This song definitely fits much better atmosphere and world wise than the original but idk it feels like it's missing something? Maybe it's because it feels a lot "grander" or maybe it's just because it's missing my favorite part from the original. Idk it's one of the few tracks that fits much better in context than outside it, which is bizarre considering many people complain the opposite is true for many other songs in this ost.

Imo while this version is more epic, the vibe feels a bit off since you're not supposed to feel like hero after receiving the Old One's power. The original had the vibe of "I got the power, but at what cost?" but this feels more heroic and victorious

You're ignoring the fact that in the original story No you should feel like the hero. So No is a better fit for the type of story. But it's pretty good.

It sounds like its missing a chord progression from the original I really adore but other than that this’d is pretty good.
i don't like the chorus... I think it ruins it the violin was a good idea, the build at 0:50 is very satisfying too, idk. I have very mixed feelings about this
PS3 Demon's souls players when they hear this song: "Look how they massacred my boy ..." I am in that camp. I feel like the new versions of the OST are trying too hard to be epic in nearly every song. The original sound track sounds like you are in some weird tragic live action play. Some sort of divine comedy with you realizing you are actually a monster. The new one's have a very heroic John Dark Soul, Slayer of Demons, vibe and it ruins the simplicity of the game. But I am a gaming boomer who got into Demon's Souls when it first came out day one. So take that bias into account.
Still good, but the original is just so much better imo
Idk man I feel like this lost the appeal of the original track, I didn’t play the game yet, neither the original nor the remake, but when I heard the original song in a video it instantly grabbed me and I went and listened to it and immediately fell in love, it had a very foreboding atmosphere and quite frankly a haunting aura that just stuck it in my head for weeks, this one just feels bland in comparison, I lack the knowledge to describe why but I feel like they just buried the melody below too much useless stuff…

This version misses both of the crescendos where the high strings in the drums kick in to sound like the player has become a demon and is going on anunstoppable rampage - the feeling of approaching inevitable doom.
My god this is souless

What a failure to capture the original feel and purpose of this track. The 'One Who Craves Souls' is not the hero...
