Hey Guys,
Welcome back to our channel!
Ever wondered what 7 days looks like in a renovation project. We filmed every day for 7 days, this was a typical week for us both working full time and doing the renovation after work. We should you all the little tasks we get down to move as along with our project.
Day 1 The grabber truck came and removed all the mud from our front garden it was so much that we ended up needing two lorries. Each truck can carry around 14tonne!
Day 2 We give you a walk through of our new open plan area and start to demolish the temporary kitchen area.
Day 3 On this day Rhys installs some temporary lighting in the extension area and plumbs in the washing machine, we had some cold weather and it ended up snowing!
Day 4 Taking out an old rotting window and finding out these windows were last installed in January 15th 1983
Day 5 Rhys made some temporary shelves for our new kitchen area and started stitch drilling out the wall underneath
Day 6 On this day we knocked through underneath the window as this will eventually be a doorway
Day 7 we were back on the scaffolding cleaning it up ready for it to be taken down after this we moved inside and Rhys started taking down the ceiling in one of the rooms.

What our channel is about:
We bought this semi-detached bungalow in August 2022 and given ourselves 3years to flip the property and sell on. We have a target budget of £70,000! Natasha is the editor and video maker, while Rhys is the builder (a carpenter by trade). We plan on doing 95% of the work ourselves to keep costs down.
This channel is for documenting our experiences - Good or Bad. This is our first time doing anything like this with full times jobs! Can we stick within our budget? Will the building inspector pass each stage? and the biggest question...will we still be married at the end of the project? Subscribe to find out...

Hi both I was thinking how many people would be prepared to go through this sort of discomfort , and hard work and just opt for a new build . Obviously the reward will be a well constructed home , and a saving of probably 50% for something equivalent . My aim was to be mortgage free by 40 , which was only possible by doing what you wonderful folks are doing . Kind regards as always 👍

I don’t think there are many people out there that can see past all the hard work to visualise the end goal. We are both lucky to have supportive family’s who we visit often for good cooked meals and sometime a refreshing shower in a warm house! 😂 as you say, the saving is the main goal as although we have good jobs we are doing the work paycheck to paycheck. Are you mortgage free now or are you on track to reach that goal? We aren’t in a rush to be mortgage free but we do want to end up with an additional property to sell for retirement if we need it. Thank you again for the kind comment 😊

Well at 70 I’ve have been mortgage free since the age of 50 , so didn’t quite make my target . Although I have a nice property , my big mistake was not buying other properties . But we did invest money in to pensions , which enabled me to retire at 59 and my wife at 50 . But now I would probably not go down that pension route . You would need a pension pot today in excess of £250 thousand to be responsible comfortably , so really it doesn’t now make much sense . Anyway I’m far from qualified to be giving out advice, to anyone 😂 . Kind regards 👍

Omgosh guys!! What a transformational stage you’re at now! I do not miss air fryer only cooked meals on our garden chairs but at the time being able to do it inside was a milestone. How amazing to see a kitchen albeit temporary &&&& hanging lights!! How exciting!

Also love the arch idea a lot of people don’t realise they are back in fashion haha but I would second what everyone else is saying. Our living area is also open plan and it is necessary to shut our doors on the washing machine when it’s on!

Amazing progress considering you are living in it and holding down jobs - amazing, well done. I don't think you need ptfe on compression fittings as the olive creates the seal.

Thank you so much! Rhys just likes to be extra cautious as he’s not a plumber 🙈😂 so far, no leaks 👍

Arch is quite a dated look, I would go with a door to stop noise from the washing machine while you’re chilling.

I think the exact same, good point about the noise I will tell Natasha and hopefully sway her to a normal door 😂😂

@@Selfbuild_TheJenkins Just replied saying the same about noise. Defo put a door on.

Don't do an arch way. With a proper door you can close it when the washing machine is on to keep the sound down when say its spinning and utility rooms can get cluttered. Great to shut the door on that 🙂
