One-Two-Watch: Meet Lana Del Rey - Exclusive Interview
Музыка
Haters are gonna hate. The reality for an artist is that not everyone is going to love what you make. Not everybody is going to understand where you are coming from. Not everyone will give you the benefit of the doubt when doubt is rampant. In our pre-packaged world we haven't been exposed to the growth of an artist. We can't let someone grow, can we? It's not good enough that the artist is smart, insightful and mesmerizing. That artist should not miss the mark AT ALL. The artist should not have anxiety or be nervous about the massive steps that confront and carry her forward into an unknown world of fast-paced scrutiny and limitless judgement. Lana Del Rey is a beautiful, shy and intricate human being with a meaningful and sultry voice that connects both emotionally and viscerally. Her style is impeccable and her presence resonates with both curiosity and confidence. The "Video Games" single that met with so much love pushed her into the world. She has only had a few shows to capture her personal melodies in a public presentation that matches who she is. This is about supporting artists in their future. We should be there for their best and most challenging moments as they grow into their full potential. If you have belief in the artists you love, then believe that it's about the journey, and not just the destinations. (ie. SNL) Lana Del Rey is a true artist on her way to greatness and, the truth is, you have to love her a little to hate her at all.

Looking back on it, this video is probably what started my obsession with Lana. She's so captivating, and this video really showcases it. It feels like you're watching a vintage interview of someone long gone.

This was the first time I heard her talk, first time I ever saw her was the disastrous SNL performance. She became style/vocal influence on me. I miss this Lana but it’s such a sad and juvenile world she was in, I’m glad she’s long been out of it but I never liked any of her stuff after this album.

I think it comes from wanting to fit a role. She spoke about starting to copy her own rolemodels and the way they talk, hold themselves... I think that's here the nervousness comes from, the fear of breaking character

I just realized that the way she carries herself and talks in interviews resembles a shy more girly version of Dita von Teese. So down to earth, yet out of this world and time.

Not at all. Lana's demeanor was an act in the earlier days. A lot like how Paris Hilton would use the baby voice. Her act is copied from Hope from Mazzy Star and Marilyn Monroe. As for comparison to Dita, Dita and I use to be in the same circles and I've met her a few times in gatherings. Dita, is a not act. Fully her authentic self. And they’’re nothing alike.

Man, how could you hate Lana? She is gorgeous and has an AMAZING voice with incredible range and a very versatile tone. I love her, obviously.
she even drinks out of a vintage coke bottle, fuck she's so cool.
I really like how this interview was edited and filmed in a vintage style that fits Lana so well.

"Find someone who has a life that you want and figure out how they got it...read books...pick your role models wisely, find out what they did and do it" -- possibly the best message you can send to young people finding themselves
It makes me sad how bad the backlash was after her SNL performance. I really didn't see what was so wrong with it, and I think what happened is that people are not used to such a unique talent and voice. She's incredibly classy, wise, and gifted, and will go very far I predict.

She has this classic aura about her that seperates her from everyone else. I wouldn't say "depressed" but a more unusual calmness. She is a wonderful singer and can't wait to see what the fture hold for her.
Her voice is literally THE PERFECT FEMALE VOICE. Any female voice on the face of this planet could not be any more perfect: she sounds sexy when she wants to, she sounds soothing when she wants to, she sounds happy when she wants to, she sounds sad when she wants to etc. Lana Del Rey's singing and speaking voice is so interesting that I could listen to it for my whole life. Her voice is so childish&perfect. Her hands are so thin&perfect. She is so beautiful&perfect
Everything about her is lovely.
"i'll love him forever" ugh I feel that and whenever I feel sad about him I always go back to her songs. She gets it!!
I said it many times and I will say it again, Lana Del Rey is a one of a kind artist who never got enough success and recognition.
What would you say to your haters? "I wouldn't say anything." Best response ever ❤️👌🏼✨

2019 and this is still my favorite lana video
Wow. I remember first watching this when i was about 14, after hearing video games. I immedietely fell in love with Lana, looking back on this now it's amazing seeing how she has developed as an artist and a person.
This has to be one of my favorite interviews ever, I love the editing, I love the music, and Lana is just a queen.
After watching candy necklace video, it all now make sense... she really played into her persona of Born to die
Her voice is so unique.
Her speaking voice and singing voice are both PERF.
miss her acapella moments. she’s the only celebrity these days that has 60s level glamour
she dreamed while singing, so devotedly...

how does it feel aging?
This interview changed my life forever and I don't know where I would be without Lana. When I hear Lana's music, even her most personal songs (actually especially her most personal songs), I always feel like she knows exactly who I am and I'm so fucking grateful and beyond lucky because I never dreamed I'd ever feel someones company so strongly like that. Somebody who understands me. Every time I listen to her, I feel like I want to create something from it and I'm reminded of how beautiful life is. I look for a piece of her in every friend I make because of how close I feel to her (is this starting to sound creepy? haha). Lana, I love you. I'm always hoping that one day she'll receive all the love I have for her. This started as just a comment and turned into a little love letter for Lana
She achieved her goal of making her life into a work of art. She already had in the first album
She was so damn young!
how has 11 years gone by so fast.. I remember this like it was yesterday
2023 still love you
still my favourite lana interview ♡ i love how it's edited just like how her aesthetic & style goes
"I'm usually always singing about the same goddamn person. Sooo. I'll love him forever. But, you know, it's all good. It's all good."
Can I just say if I met this woman I would hug her for the rest of my life I could she's so sweet! She's such a sweetheart but then again a baddie she's perfect! Her smile her laugh voice eyes style hair beauty she's just amazing!!!!
Loved every single answer so much!!! Especially 'I was looking to make my life a work of art, and I was looking for people who also felt that way.' I want to embody this so much!!!!!!!
I love her so much, she's my everything 🤍
“Find someone who has the life that you want and figure how they got it. Read books. Pick your role models wisely. Find out what they did and do it.”
She evolved so much !
I really think she is a goddess...
her voices (speaking and singing), her lyrics, and now even her everyday speech is so poetic and wonderful! "I look for someone who makes me feel electric" powerful answer no one would think of. i can imagine other artists' answers like "He has to be really cute" or "He should be funny" giggling.. I am a guy and i LOVE HER! (not ashamed to say that)
her voice is unique like crystalline and deep at the same time. It is so clear and sharp such as the words she uses are so poetic even for an interview. She is unique and heavenly but at the same time an "angel in the garden of evil".
Lana is life-changing. Thank you
we’re so blessed to be alive the same time as her
I think the great thing about Lana is that there's something familiar about her. About her words, her sound. It all leaves you longing for something that once touched you in a way everyone's been touched.
Can we just appreciate the editing for a second.
i’m still watching this in 2019
And "Choose your rolemodels wisely"
she embodies art, everything she does is so beautiful and classical, we need more real artists like her in our world.
She is so beautiful I cryyy
This video is my favorite! It's most likely what got me into her music and what made her an idol of mine. I "chose my role models wisely"
This has been my absolute fav interview of her since the beginning
Her music helped me through some abusive ass times ❤️ I don’t listen to it anymore because it brings back memories I don’t like, but i’ll forever be grateful
i remember when it came out and i made it my entire personality. i love her
Her talking voice is so high compared to her singing, I’m so confused
I’m in tears. I love this woman so much. I have no words. Thank you Lana for everything
I love her and her music so much, it’s shaped me as a person ❤
I come back to this video about every 3-4 months
this interview is pure gold. it reminds of why I got into her in the first place. she’s so captivating... also, I kinda miss this era, it’s f*cking iconic 🌹🖤
Love the message in the description. Lana is amazing. Everything about her I adore. Her voice. Her style. Her wise words and meaning for life and music. I love this woman and her music to pieces -33
I can't stop loving her, everytime I see a video of her I just love her more and more.. she is so rare!
I love her so much. I feel like her songs are just so real. I also love her because she doesn't blend in with everybody else, but still doesn't try to hard to be different or over the top. She's just wonderful and inspiring and a fantastic artist and creator of words and dreams.
"I'll love him forever but it's okay" how tragic...
This is still my favorite interview of hers.
God she's so attractive how could you not fall in love
Her voice is amazing! She is amazing artist!
that was great advice she gave, she's such a beautiful person, and the video description is so true
7 years on and i still love this video
Find someone who has the life that you want and figure out how they got it. Read books, pick your role models wisely, find out what they did and do it - Elizabeth Woolridge Grant
I’ll love her forever!!
Her voice is so amazing I don't have words for it
ugh i just love her so much
She slays my existence
i'm just so in love with her I can't believe
Watching this interview makes me feel better... I don't why. Love you, Lana ♥
I've been listening to her songs on high repeat all year and Lana Del Rey's voice still hits the sweet spot for me. I dig her different vocal characterization in her different songs. Hungry for more Lana!
I remember watching this very video back in January 2012 and it made me interested in her, before that, I was thinking ‘no way, not interested.’ A month later ‘Born To Die’ was released and I purchased the ‘special edition.’ Here I am ten years later, and I own every single album as well as her audio book on CD.
