Another interesting but important topic! When the students start to think about teeth and jaw position they are surprised how the their sound is getting richer and warmer. Everyone can try different positions in all of the clarinets registers and hear what's happening with the tones - that's what I do after the first couple of lessons, experimenting with the embouchure, teeth and jaw (lips).
Hi , I Love how you share so much knowledge on here! Years ago back to my junior high school way till after my graduation!! (In Germany) After I married I still played for about 3 years and than we moved away to a town where I couldn’t keep playing and so it was in the case for 12 long years..: I picked it up finally and start playing … I am so rusty it makes me cry!!! Never I have actually truly excelled in playing but this time I really want to!!

Hi, my name is Nolan. This is my fourth year playing the alto saxophone and my brother chose the clarinet as his band instrument. I think this video will be very helpful to him. You have a superior tone by the way. I love the rich, dark sound that comes from the clarinet.

A useful tip to improve articulation is to target the reed with your tongue off to one side. The cessation of sound is less abrupt and sounds cleaner. What ever part of the reed you touch with your tongue is of course damped instantly. If half the reed is untouched the reed will dampen out to silence in a few cycles rather than instantly. In rapid articulation you don't even need to stop the sound entirely and it will sound better than if you do. You can easily see this with a mic and an oscilloscope, which is how I discovered it 50+ years ago. I imagine I am targeting the reed on the lower left but who really knows where your tongue really is. I have conveyed this idea for years with good results. Try it! JY

What's a tip you can give us to make a B note more stable? The transition from an A note to a B with fingers

I thought you wear a neckstrap! 😂 I got BG C72E and modded with suspenders to the pants, so It is like the C50M. I didn't get C50M at the first place cause I wanted elastic chord and weren't available with elastic chord and suspenders to the pants. Now with suspenders, It's awesome feeling! Really as I wanted! The only thing I have to do now is lift the clarinet outwards, upwards no more. I don't remember If told you, I had the Ton Kooiman Maestro for some months but wasn't good at all. Returned.

No, I do not, but I have used one temporarily in the past when I have injured my wrist. I do have the basic BG elastic strap, and keep one on hand just in case.
