I read in an interview somewhere that she was really worried that Sam was coming in to replace her, especially during her illness. I'm so glad they built this amazing partnership!!

Well that's expected,she is a superstar and some of the players obviously where just worried about there play time but looking back everybody will be like we are happy to have Sam Kerr what a great signing

I don't think Beth said anything that was either a surprise or wrong, particularly in the context of the time at which it was said. Emma clearly was over-focused at the time on Sam's signing, probably to the detriment of the rest of the team. Of course Beth was just feeling the heat too. One wonders how Beth's career would look now if Sam hadn't gone to Chelsea...

England rightfully commenting on how people should focus on players that are at the club rather than who may come. She said in a blunt way but she was very correct in saying how those players at the club are important and vital to a club.

@@thlee3 that's not at all what I was saying. The Liverpool match was a sad showing of a great team, I agree. But most fans in football tend to focus on new signings more than fixing an actual problem. New signings aren't always the answer, players that are already at the club can just be as important and vital, I think that's what Beth's saying here

@@JuliaEvianne Chelsea has one outstanding problem now: winning UWCL. And if they're going to do it imo they need to do at least three things: (1) get a better manager (2) further build the quality in the current squad with better fitness & skills development (3) sign new quality players, particularly in midfield and at right positions. It all starts at (1).

I know Emma may get annoyed of not of won the continental cup (at that time, they have now won it before) but it isn’t nice and shouldn’t be ok to laugh at her Emma is a strong leader and always will be.

So, when you look at the Guardian's Top 100 footballers last year, a list made up of the collective opinion of more than 80 international experts, Chelsea's got 3 (!) players in the top 10. All three are forwards. It's like having Messi, Ronaldo, AND Lewandowski in the same team. So why was Chelsea knocked out in the CL group stage? Maybe it's because great attackers win matches, while a great defence wins titles. Barcelona, Lyon, Wolfsburg, and PSG have world class players in all positions. Juventus, Bayern, and Real Madrid is getting there.

@@deltaboy2011 Ok, well I'm not sure I understand your argument here... Are you saying even the best managed sides can still lose? Of course they can; football is a game of luck too. But maybe you meant something else re Barca/Lyon? ... Anyway, I agree the quality of players and how they play as a team ("chemistry" perhaps) are critical. But so is the manager (pretty obviously I think).

@@bd9531 You have some English clubs that had winning coaches from Lyon or PSG but couldn't win games. Sorry but the coaches can only do so much with the players they have. Emma Hayes had to get Sam Kerr to help the team go winning in their own league. But its not enough against Barca or Lyon for that matter.

And poor that they just took away #20 for Jonna and not even asked. "I am known around the world for wearing no 20. It is like Ronaldo ... " 🤡🤡

That’s what happens in all sports with superstars. There really is no way around it. If they get the superstar signing they get the number that they are associated with.

@@Jennacka No, it is not usual. The mentioned Ronaldo played one season with #9 for Real and then he could switch to #7, when Raul left. And talking from yourself as a superstar, ... And last and most important, is asking the player - minimum of respect (also bad of the club of course).
