One Sticking 101 - A First Timer Learns the Basics

Sydney had never tried a one stick climb. So this was her very first attempt. Clunky, but you will see that for someone who knows nothing about it, one sticking is very doable for the beginner. I guarantee a with a couple hours of practice she would be like a seasoned pro. It is that easy.

I'm slowly gravitating towards one-sticking. The more I pack my multiple sticks and platform around in the hot early-season here in GA the more I want to lighten up and simplify my system.
Awesome she did that way better than what I did my first time one sticking lol. Now going on my fourth season, it's super easy and effortless.

Not the fastest way to one stick but I found this to be my preferred method, the way people don't use a lineman's belt when moving their tether is psychotic
Nice job, it really isn't that hard. The hardest part is just working out the best system for yourself, especially with how you store ropes, what order and which side to put them on. I also prefer to use a regular stick and platform because I like the extra room at top and I can position the stick on the other side of the platform for a makeshift ring of steps to get around the tree.
Why not use your one stick to climb and also hang a platform? Seems like you could add some flexibility to swing around the tree more with your platform on one said and your one-stick on the other.

Yep you can do that. I have done it a few times. Just more to carry. I also mad e one stick out of a regular stick and used a platform some as well. Lots of options out there. One of the many beauties of it.
