I would be remiss if I did not congratulate the Virginia Cavaliers on their championship. They were the Cardiac Kids this tournament. I have never been prouder of a sports team in my life. To bounce back from the lowest of lows (that takes some programs years to recover from) to the highest of highs is truly amazing. I had the pleasure of attending this great university in the late 80s and early 90s and I have to say I look back on my days there very fondly--even if I have not been on the campus since then. When I was there, Virginia was always the scrappy, hard-working team that would always play their best b-ball against upper echelon teams but could never overcome them enough to do anything on the national stage. I am proud of the way Tony Bennett has built Virginia into a perennial power. It is even more exceptional that he has done it without a boatload of All-Americans that the blue bloods are overly blessed with. Kyle Guy is the only high school All-American he has been able to recruit so far (in fact the only top 100 prospect). Keep up the good work and maybe my career will bring me closer to Charlottesville one day. Once again, congratulations on what should be a redemption story for the ages.

Don hmm.. this team alone had several top 100 prospects. In fact.. I’m pretty sure on the ESPN Top 100 that year, Guy wasn’t even the highest Virginia player. I think Ty Jerome was higher. Hunter was much lower, in the 90s. I’m relatively certain Jay Huff was in the top 50 and Braxton Key was as well.

Who else shed a tear watching this ? I watched almost every single game and honestly .... wow I’m going to remember this years tournament forever . I love basketball 🏀💜 thank you for all the memories this year ✨

Virginia beat Purdue. Mamadi’s shot was a miracle but it’s a shot Virginia made. Auburn beat themselves. You can’t body the best shooter on the floor in the last few seconds of the game when they’re in the double bonus and you’re up by 2. I would say Duke ‘92 and Villanova ‘16 also have some miracle “how did they do that” moments, but I agree.. Virginia seemingly had one in the last three games of the tournament.

Robert Cheng it’s called March madness my man. Duke might as well have one for their 2014-15 team. In 2014 Duke lost in the first round to 14 seeded Mercer, then they had some players leave and some come in. The next year 2015, Duke won it all which goes to show you that during March Madness anything can happen

@@sethbryant5539 Teams score more points in the NBA than in NCAA College Basketball. If you want defense and low scoring games in the NBA, watch the NBA Playoffs. Teams tend to be far more defensive in the postseason.

The NCAA tournament is way better than the CFB playoffs. 1 out of 68 teams has a chance to win it all. Not the top four teams. Just my 2 ¢...

The first couple rounds weren't that great, but man did the later rounds make up for it

Finally a final four without duke, north carolina, kentucky, and/or kansas and man what a difference it makes. Great tourney this year. Only thing that pissed me off is refs not having balls to call the chest bump on the duke guard at end of ucf game. But who knows maybe mercer or lehigh will make it next year and knock them out in first round.

The only thing more classic than going from a 1 seed losing to a 16 seed to winning the championship a year later would be bringing back the Teddy Pendergrass version of "One Shining Moment!" - Yep, and they were the most lightly-regarded of the No. 1 seeds too. I picked Duke to win the tournament, but along the way I sort of felt Gonzaga might get to the National title game too. But it was Virginia, fighting off the demons from last year, winning it in the end. Awesome :-)
