You’re actually disrespecting Louisiana Tech- where Mulkey and Teresa Weatherspoon played. Sonja Hogg was a great coach from 74-82 & they won 2 titles (80 & 81, I believe?) in the AIAW - and in 82, the first year the system changed to NCAA, Mulkey & Debra Rodman (sister of legendary Dennis, & aunt of current soccer superstar, Trinity, who’s Dennis’ daughter). They have been to many Final Fours. Leon Barmore was co-coach 82-85 then solo head coach until 2002. Karl Malone played for the men there. Underrated program now since 2010.
UConn and Tennessee are awesome programs. South Carolina is up next. Hoping UT will return to glory
Pat Summit will always be my favorite women’s coach. Dawn Staley my second favorite.
Rest in peace to the late super great Pat Summitt my favorite coach in any sport at any level🧡. And Geno Auriemma was quite the cutie back then!

I well up because it's amazing what women's basketball coverage started out as, and evolved into, from all those years ago when I was eating, breathing and sleeping basketball. Pat Summit....there are no words. I always wanted other teams to beat Tennessee but her consistent character as a coach, whether she won or lost, was something to behold💚
Texas Tech beating Ohio State was the first time I watched because it was on CBS. That's when I got introduced to Sheryl Swoopes. 47 in a title game? Legend.

Loved the tenn 3 peat
Before 2015, women's college basketball played two halves just like the men. Ohhh...no one will repeat UCONN anytime in this century..4 championships IN A ROW.
The Texas A&M win will always be my favorite. It was so unexpected but it was amazing to see Gary Blair finally get his ring.

This is about basketball, not fashion statements.
Geno Auriemma was a thorn in Pat Summits side. Geno had some pretty shady recruiting practices. This is why Tennessee and UConn quit playing each other in the regular season. If it wouldn't have been for Geno taking over for UConn women's basketball it would have been Tennessee and Pat Summit all the way.
@Biggdoom344

Had lol. Still does and that was the reason behind their beef. Summitt always alluded to the fact UConn cheated.basically by paying AAU coaches to steer talent to Connecticut but the men’s coach..Calhoun did the same thing.
