Almost 17 years have passed since the first time I saw Merry's funeral. And every time I hear him/her apologize for not being able to continue the adventure, I burst into tears. It's hard.😢😭

I remember watching this last yr for the first time during my 4th month of pregnancy. My hubby was really worried and warned me that I had to be careful watching this episode cause it's gonna hurt - I just bled like a few days before. T'was a very sensitive time but I still went on and cried indefinitely and stop watching for a whole week to rest and make sure my emotions won't affect my baby any further 🤣 Now I'm totally caught up with the anime and will name my baby after a certain character from OP as I go into labor next month 🤗❤️

The crew overcame incredible odds in Enies Lobby, but not even they could save their ship. Rest in peace, Going Merry. You are gone, but you won't be forgotten.

It's not just a ship, it's someone in our lives that we should've cared for more or the things we could've and should've done but noticed too late, a reference to the people we've loved and lost that we should've shared more time with or helped out in their hard times better or told them we loved them as much as we do and someone regardless of our shortcomings they loved us to the point of indescribable. Watching you jinx the crap out of yourselves, I knew exactly how much you'd regret saying those words. This is for me the heaviest hitting emotional episode of the series, and this series has a lot of them. But it being about a _ship_, a friend of the first hour that is always conveniently ignored because it is an object... god, that cuts so deep.

The point is Usopp is not respecting the captain's decision. He should reflect and apologise to Luffy for being stubborn. Quiting the group just because of emotions. Luffy didn't do anyhthing wrong.

Luffy was totally in the wrong too. IMO his wrong was wayyyy worse than insubordination. Merry wasn't just a ship. She was their crew mate. I wouldn't have respected Luffy's decision either. At least, the way he made his decision. It didn't really hit Luffy until he heard Merry's voice.
