It does indeed look cold, but I wish his yellow and black fur turned white and black instead, to make it look more like an awakening.

The fact that Lucci saw that Luffy beat Kaido and still thought of him as not being a Yonko is the wildest part of this for me. At least he’s got heart though 💀. He took one gum gum mole punch.

If I remember correctly the transformation into Gear 5 happened instantaneously in Manga but here in anime they made it so epic. Watching this episode got me really excited to see what’s about to come. It’s gonna be 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kaido already mentioned it in Onigashima, the transformations are exclusive to Zoan types. And so far in the show only 2 types of devil fruits have seen their awakened version: -Paramecia (they affect everything outside the user with their powers) -Zoan (a new transformation that alters the personality since Zoan-type fruits have a will of their own) At the moment it remains to be seen what an awakened Logia-type fruit will be like.

Lucci is slim in this fight most likely because he’s using the Life Return technique which allows the user to have full control of their body parts. For example, during Enies Lobby, Kumadori used it to control his hair to attack while Lucci used it to have a slimmer body that makes him quicker.

As an anime only, I was not expecting Lucci to get back up, have an awakened form, and hold his own against Gear 5 Luffy. He’s gotta be way stronger than Luffy’s previous opponents(aside from Kaido) like Doflamingo, Cracker, and Katakuri.
