Playing piano for over a century... that's impressive :)
She is Alfred Cortot's last living student. I'm just in awe and in love. She is perfection. And God bless her wonderful son.

*@Jenetha Philbert. You are right dear. Nadia Boulanger was also her teacher, Nadia was also the teacher of many famous people, such as Aaron Copland and Quincy Jones.

@@brahim119 Wow. That is so cool !! And the way she plays. You can barely see her fingers touch the keys. Arms and hands are so loose. That's probably why she can play so nimbly at her age - no severe hand and arm strain/injuries because of the relaxed way she plays. I heard that it's a technique Cortot taught his pupils and it's basically extinct.
What a generous woman… RIP Madame Mazé…109 years old…just an amazing live😊
My grandmother was born in France and played piano. She was born in 1913. She died at age 91. This video gives me all the memories of her. Even her voice and accent when she speaks
Her piano playing is heavenly
When a profession becomes a passion there is no age limit to stop. She is 106 years old and has been playing the piano since she was 5 years old. Congratulations.
Fun fact: When she was born, Debussy was still alive.

Oh really? Ok ok, I wonder why she said he was, in the french version video, or maybe I just misunderstood it
She eats real French food, she is a very modest great artist. She takes care of her precious hands, arthritis ? what's that ? May God almighty grant this admirable lady many more decades of healthy life.

That’s ‘a part’ ‘apart’ is the opposite!
When you don't have motivation to practice or do anything, just remember that this woman has been playing for a whole century. That's pure commitment.
*She is an inspiration to all of us. :)*

Such a great life! Incredible!
Yep. Age is a mindset....not a number. I know people who by age 30, were old. Never let that happen. Colette plays so beautifully... wow!
Awesome!

Bravissima Maestra Colette!!
What a treasure. And I love that she is not hiding behind a wall of fake facade. She doesn't have to pretend, because is the real deal.
Many blessings to you Colette :)

¡Adorable ejemplo de vida, pasión y sensiblidad! ¡Increíble Colette! ¡Felicitaciones! ¡Aplausos desde el fondo de mi corazón y desde las notas de mi piano que interpretan mis emociones! Escucho esa melodía final de Adiós Nonino interpretada con delicadeza por tus manos y me acerco a Dios !

Piano is pretty cool, there is nothing better than trying to play a song you like with no sheet music and producing a banger of a song out of simple experimentation
Mon admiration et mon respect professeur. Tu as le don de mains bénies et la bénédiction d'un bon fils, je t'embrasse fort.

never heard of this lady. but im so curious about her and will look up her lifestory, these pieces are very difficult, and here she is at the age of 106 playing them for fun.

She sadly passed away 😔
and she starts with my favorite Debussy piece
La suerte de nacer en el seno de una familia con estudios y claro, el talento para hacer cosas como esta felicidades por ello.
This is so true, I’m only 53, but I grew up in a very strict household just like this lady did, no one in my family has any musical ability at all except me, when I was six my parents inherited a baby grand piano, and they were going to throw it away, but I begged them to keep it, thank God they did. They put it in the basement so they couldn’t hear (it was a big house) and whenever Life became unbearable, especially because I was coming to terms with my sexuality, realizing I was gay at a young age, and knowing that my father and mother were both incredibly homophobic, every day was torture, except when I sat at the piano. I never had any formal training, I learned by ear, but within a year I was playing my favourite pieces by Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and all my other favorites. Even though when I would play at school, everyone would tell me I should study music professionally, when I went home, my parents criticized me, saying that only girls play music, that my playing was “horrible old music for flakes, and really old people”, and that it wasn’t manly. That was the easy part of my life, I won’t tell you what happened when I came out at 16, but I was homeless for quite a while, but I always had my music. I’ve been through hell and back, suffering from both Crohn’s disease and intestinal cancer, having 37 surgeries, nearly dying four times, yet my music, no matter how sick I was, was always the best medicine for me. I soon as my hands touched the keys, all the pain disappeared, and I honestly believe it save my life, because I would’ve committed suicide if I didn’t have that to take me to another place, when the real world became unbearable. I can tell you why this beautiful lady in the video does not look or act her age at all, music has almost magical healing properties, especially for those of us who truly appreciate it. As I said, I’m 53, yet I still get ask for ID when I go to a bar, somehow, despite all the pain I’ve been through, I got so much joy from my music, all the pain just disappeared, I buried deep down inside and never looked back. Thank you for posting this video, my greatest admiration goes towards this beautiful woman, because she is a perfect example of what music can do, showing the transformative power it has. I don’t know why or how, all I know is, it’s the best therapy I have ever had, and I’ve had lots of different therapy, but nothing comes close to how I feel when I play, it literally takes me to a different world where I feel nothing but joy and hope, and I’m willing to bet that’s what kept this beautiful one and going there so long.
Debussy! This lady has a great taste
INSPIRING !!!!!
