ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL REGIONS IN GERMANY: The Swabian Alb is Joerg's homeland

ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL REGIONS IN GERMANY: The Swabian Alb is Joerg's homeland// We just returned from our visit to Germany. It was a short week filled with happiness and laughter because we were over the moon to see our families again. We tried to film as much as possible but sadly our time there was too short and we would have loved to show you more. We still hope you like the video. Today we share Joerg's homeland with you, the beautiful Swabian Alb. We also visited one of the most beautiful castles in Germany. If you ever visit the area, make sure to visit Castle Hohenzollern, we can highly recommend it. Kirsten & Joerg x

When a person stays at home almost everyday now because of the Covid, to go to Germany with two good friends is a blessing. I so enjoyed the tunnel. Can't imagine. I did go under the ocean in an automobile on the east coast many years ago and it was a bit intimidating. But we made it. Thanks again for sharing your trip. Thanks for sharing a bit of high German with us as well. Thanks for sharing your home country.

You two are adorable! After seeing Joerg's homeland, I can understand why Europeans who visit Atlanta call our city the forested city. Germany's scenic views remind one of our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains here in North Georgia. My 4th great grandfather settled in the Southern USA from Sersheim, Germany in the late 1700s to live and practice his cabinetmaking craftsmanship. He must have found it comforting that the terrain was so similar to his homeland. So enjoy your travels, cooking and shopping!

That castle, the gate, the statues and the View- no words.💖 that was the most peaceful beautiful Cemetery I have ever seen in my life! The look on Joergs face while eating his cake was pure Bliss I have never seen him look like that before; I suppose it's the location and the authentic cake. This definitely proves to me that I must come see Germany my ancestors Homeland in person. That whole area around the castle the forest and what not just beautiful. I know I'm rambling on but I have truly been moved on this video. The view from the back seat which I never get shotgun LOL was just breathtaking! Much gratitude for sharing this video. I was flabbergasted to hear you speak of “high German”! My grandparents always joked that they spoke low German but the priest used high German. I always thought they meant that they used slang or intermingled English with their German (which they did). Now I’ll have to research this business of high German. I really want to express my appreciation that you took time out to do TWO videos for us! I know when I go home, I don’t have any time for much besides visiting family. Thank you so much for taking us for another peek into your lives! Side note: I’m in jeans and sweatshirts when I go home- kudos to you for wearing dresses and looking so lovely!

@ Genia Klein High German is “Standard German” which uses the official pronunciation. This is the same in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is understood by everyone speaking German. It is used for everything “official”, which is why it is spoken at church. Low German (Plattdeutsch) is a regional dialect spoken in the north of Germany along the coast of the North and Baltic Sea. It is influenced by Dutch and English.

It's as in England one refers to "The Queeen's English" - it's the official formal version of English with it's unique accent. Similarly there is High German in Germany - it's the offical formal version of German with it's particular accent.

  • @maximilianmustermann5763

@@ich8159 however the "high" in "High German" doesn't mean it's "better" or something like that. It's just that low German was spoken in the northern low lands and high German was spoken in the southern high lands. Standard German is also called "High German" because it is loosely based on the Southern Grammar and words, although it doesn't match any of the Southern dialects. Low German is very different though and has much more resemblance to Dutch than to modern Standard German.

Germany was one of the cleanest countries i went to in western Europe. I remember being able to see my reflection in the glossy black and white floor tiles there in a public convenience! 👍

I think what I enjoyed the most was seeing how happy you both were in your homeland and sharing your childhood memories. By the way I think I would have put on 10 pounds...the cakes and pastries looked 👌

Thankyou for sharing your video. Does anyone live in the castle? I’ve been to King Ludwigs castle , it was magical. My cousin has said about the different dialects too. So glad you enjoyed your time with family. Stay safe. 💓🇬🇧

2:29 - (With apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein). 🎼 on a hill stood a munching goat herd. Sorry, I couldn't help myself! What a beautiful place and the goats definitely provided additional character--thank you for sharing your trip with us.

So happy you got to visit your families and even happier you were kind enough to take time out of your busy schedule to make two videos of beautiful Germany for all of your fans, especially those of us in the USA who can’ t travel to Europe right now. Made me so homesick for my second home. When things get back to normal, I highly recommend experiencing Germany and it’s lovely scenery, architecture, and bakeries (to die for) for yourselves.

It is so fascinating to me how you can travel just a few hours and be in such a totally different environment, different architecture, different foods, language, different culture it’s just wonderful and to routinely visit sites that are a thousand years old...amazing. In the US you can travel days and virtually be in the same place and if you come across a place or thing that is 300 years old that’s old for here. Loved your adventure and looking forward to more❤️

Right around the corner on the Swabian Alb archeologists found one of the oldest known pieces of art, an ivory-carving of a lion-man that is at least 35,000 years old.
