Great advice Dan. Team building is probably my biggest weakness but the more I play the more I understand certain mons and the way they stack against the meta. It’s a process for sure

am yet you am everyone is watching videos like this one because of the title... if you had not notice by now content creators are the ones that build the meta in each season! what works am does not work!

I stink at team building. Thanks for the advice. Yoda Dan says: "Get comfortable, and you'll get good." I bounce around a lot from team to team, hoping for a lighting in a bottle. Regarding having fun. I made three PoGo friends this month on comm-days/events. We all had the same complaints: Punshied too hard in Gbl for losing Tear 3, 4, 5 raids can't be solo'd BUT, we all had fun making a new friend 😅.

I think it's kind of annoying they limit us to only the one league and a special cup Why not have all open leagues active all the time in an exhibition mode, and then maybe just the 5 sets of ranked matches on the cup that's currently active I don't like not being able to practice or use my mons I built up

I can relate to everything you’ve said. I was getting in over 2000 battles per season. I’m currently at 731. I been getting sick of the algo trying to bring my all time average back down to 50%. I get sick of ruining my day first thing in the morning with 0/5 or 1/4 sets. Most days go by without any battles. It’s Completely discouraging. However. I did get 14 charge tms on raid day so now hopefully that’s enough to get energy ball on my Galvantula. I love your channel and Poke AK cuz you are practically the only two who don’t have your heads 3/4 of the way up Niantics ass! Keep up the great work!

Togedemaru is very fun to play, the issue is this season everyone and their mother got Scorching Sands and now there is also Clodsire. I think it was ranked about 65 last season and now down to almost 300 with so many hard counters.

Great video! I have a rank 1 zard and walrein for ultra but no experience and past 2 seasons I have used shadow poli amp and non shadow drapion and got vet both times because I know the match ups

Yeah, i do a lot of team hopping when I'm not comfortable with a team. I played Cresselia, Porygon2 and Obstagoon for several seasons in a row in Ultra and hit Legend with it because i knew the ins and outs of these Porygon2 matchups hardcore. If i got an early atri-Attack debuffs, the matchup plays completely differently. On the other topic, i just don't have the mental capacity to keep grinding after my goal is reached. There is no incentive yes, but only the best of the best are up there and every battle is very stressful. Losing by getting a move caught, even by a skilled opponent, makes me feel predictable even if it was a great play.

yeah theres no huge incentive after legend but not most players make it to legend. you did say a couple thousand but thats such a small amount. i would love more content for pvp but i think niantic sees most of their players care about the catching aspect of Pogo more. Sad part is making unique cups really isnt too hard

I honestly only care about going out and grinding in order to catch high iv meta Mon to build for GBL and gain resources to put back into GBL in one way or another. It’s the only reason I play the game and I think enough ppl who play PG in general feel the same that niantic is not smart to ignore it

im just like you, i see pvp as the whole point for the grind. but i have wayyyy more friends that see the whole point of grinding is having a nice pretty collection and sometimes pvp for the rewards, not really for the competitive environment@@dantr0n3030

It's all goes hand in hand. Just like within the last 4-5 months in raids, I would only 15-20% of the pokemon will have their legacy move or moves.

I love the truths you speak good sir!!! People just expect instant gratification from using these teams. They don’t know how to use them and blame the team instead of learning matchups 💯

Familiarity with your team is an advantage for sure. D.Deoxys, Dewgong, Licki. The team just works. Maybe it's cause I always lose lead and the team is built to psycho boost n switch in licki.

I want them to add snowy cup: ice, steel, normal. Pyroar would run rampant.

I could not agree more.. I rarely use your teams.. (no offence) but I watch to see how you play.. And if I see myself in certain match ups.. I know what to do. Because 9/10 you have a mon I tend to play.. But jellyed to a different teams

I've gotten really good and comfortable with my Shadow Zard, Regi, Tapu team in UL. I've pushed LB the last 2 seasons and ran in to the same problems. There's no incentive, takes longer to find games, etc. I like trying to see how high I can go but that's literally the only reason to even attempt it. I love playing this game but yes there's a lot of issues with it right now and it's sad the lack of care they put towards GBL which is a huge aspect of their game

man I've been running shadow zard, regi, and greninja closer! I'm not sure a team could be more fun than that - two top tier sweepers and a tank!

Also the fact... Where it takes you 2 games to adjust can take others 2 sets... So remember that you newer players... It takes time to know your team

Wouldn't Fell Stinger have killed that Umbreon without dropping Toge's defense? The comfort level thing with less-than-meta Pokemon is such a big deal. I just had my best week ever by switching my team to Munchlax-Charjabug-Jellicent. I beat some meta teams that I had never beaten before, but also took really fun, dramatic losses to other rogue teams. Super fun week

Hi Dan, Im sorry to see you in such a bad mood rambling. I also have fulltime job and two kids (you have two, right?). My kids are girls 4 and 6 and they both play Pokemon Go with me. I share them data and they play on our old devices without sim cards. Its great fun, we can destroy three star shadow raids, we can even defeat Mega Garchomp. Its great fun to establish a party and walk around and catch pokemons. Try that and you will apricate new features, even if your focus is GBL :)

Another thing they have to fix is people getting ten accounts to Legend and cock blocking experts that’s never made it!

yeah I have noticed the trick that some have use for that match!! funny I adapted to it am now it is the right way again! lol

I used to care about my elo but couldn't get above 2400. I used to try sssooo hard, but my high is the 2390s because once I got above 2350, not only would I start seeing veterans consistently (which makes sense), but I'd start seeing experts and legends who tanked to farm on people like me. I'm ssssoooo much happier now that I don't care about my elo and I use gbl to farm for dust and rare candies. I spend the week before master league week TANKING, like I get down to around 400 elo, and then go crazy the week of master league with the 3x or 4x dust. When it's all said and done, I usually come out of that week with over 600k dust and over 100 rare candies. I've been doing this for 3 seasons now and I'm in such a better position with my dust. And the rare candies go toward powering up lengendaries at least to level 40 so that I don't have to grind raids so hard and fall into that money grab trap of Niantic's. I used to struggle with dust, but now I'm always sitting pretty. I was up to 3.7mil at one point recently before powering up level 40 garchomp, level 46 shadow garchomp, level 44 shadow lugia, level 49.5 carbink, level 42 darkrai, and a few other cheaper mons for great league and I'm still at over 1.9mil dust. This is actually the lowest I've been all session. The flexibility I have now is amazing. And now I'm preparing for the final week of the season because I don't play ultra league, electric cup sucks, and catch cup sucks. I calculated that with throwing these next two weeks, and then grinding during master league week, I should be able to get nearly 900k dust the rest of the season just from gbl. I say all this to say that you know the game is broken when there's greater reward and incentive in losing than in winning.

@justintheloop no, during the week that master league is in rotation, it's 3x or 4x dust from your win rewards, regardless of which league you play. So the last week of the season this season, master league, Ultra League, and Great League are available. I'll just be playing great league. But in a set, the first and fifth wins are dust rewards. At the ace level, it's normally 900 and 1800, respectively. With the bonus for master league being in rotation, it's 3600 and 7200. And then at the end of the set, you get more dust depending on how many wins you got, up to 5000 dust. So if you win all five battles in a set, that's 15800 dust for the set, and you get 5 sets in a day. So, it adds up fast. When I tank like that, I'll win 23-25 battles a day all week. Once, I even won 75 battles in a row. That was 237,000 dust in 3 days. And honesty, the battles go super quick when you're that low elo. So I'm not even investing that much time to get that much dust. And I feel like master league is in rotation 3-4 times a season. So a lot of opportunities to farm for the dust.

​@justintheloop lol I usually just do a week of throwing sets and I drop pretty significantly pretty quick. I think I've calculated that with losing all 5 battles in a set, I drop around 70 elo, so doing that for all five sets in a day is around 350 elo. I stop once my elo is 400-500 because like what Dan was talking about with it taking a long to get into battles at a really high elo, it's the same at a really low elo. I'm starting to tank now with losing every battle because I don't care about ultra league or electric cup right now. Once catch cup comes around, I'll try enough to win one battle a set just to get that extra 900 dust. I would do that now with electric cup if I cared enough to try in it at all lol but I don't. And each day, I'm done throwing all my battles in about 20 minutes. So not much time investment.

To one of the points in your ranting about Niantic... now why wouldn't they make it so Garchomp would learn his com day move on evolving etc during mega garchomp introduction?! Big fail I feel like

What you said makes sense. When you obtain Legend rank there’s only so few amount of people to challenge. I think Niantic should make Legend ranked players restricted to only battle against other legend ranked players. So if they choose to tank/drop their ELO they’ll still be forced to face other Legend players this way they can’t drop ELO and make tons of stardust and get easy wins, etc… If all Legend players continue to play GBL your wait times won’t take forever. Yes it can result from them being forced to either play or skip it altogether until the next season starts. At least this way it gives us lower ranked players a chance to move up to Legend. I myself know Legend ranked players and they know the game so they purposely drop ELO just to face a lot of Ace players and destroy everyone and gain tons of stardust, etc… only to gain so much ELO and move back to 2900+ ranges. So my point is there should be a rank restriction. Legend players should battle only Legend players, etc…

Why should you be able to enjoy the luxuries of a Legend rank tank/drop ELO on purpose to battle level 20 players and gain tons of stardust, pkmn, etc. ? You have too much advantage. Besides, only a small amount of players ever obtain Legend rank so Legend players should battle it out against other Legend players to see who's the best in their rank. It's a mismatch and Legend players get the maximum advantage against level 20 players or anyone below their rank.

My recommendation: You should gain a lot of elo for beating someone at legend or higher than your rank but lose none if you lose. That way it's fair for everyone.. sort of🙃

Why should lower ranked players be held back because you're not willing to wait for other Legend players? Exactly. You have too many advantages so you/Legend players drop ELO on purpose and get easy wins, etc. Very advantageous for you and disadvantageous for lower ranked players. My solution just go make another account and play that too and earn legend on both accounts.

Yeah it'd be cool to incentivise people who've already hit legend. But you know what'd be better? Fixing the algorithm so more people can make Legend. I'd be Legend if 4/5 battles I wasn't Fast Move farmed down because I'm walled Soo hard. Soo great to build a team thinking "I've never seen that corebreaker all season" but then the first match you play has that pokemon as lead.

I know you say PvP is not rigged, but it 100% is. I changed teams every three battles for three sets. I had a hard loss of the top almost every time and two hard losses in every match. There is no way that is random chance. It happens all the time. I'm done with this game. It has gotten to the point of stupidity.

The fact you keep changing your team shows you aren’t happy using it, find a team that you can rely on more than others that you’re comfortable with in regards to matchups and counting turns. It’s hard to battle at the moment as everyone is so focused on finding the best mix of meta and anti meta and it can get quite annoying trying to build a team, if you feel like it’s not for you maybe take a break for a while and see if you would want to go back. Whenever I take a break I come back with much more incentive

Yeah the meta has been horrible this season, so stale in great, ultra, and limited cups, master league is inaccessible for people who don’t want to spend money. XL candy grind takes forever. GBL and your videos has gotten me back into the game but this game sucks rn

Without watching the vid, I’m guessing the most important team building lessons for great league are going to be: Start with Lickitung Pick a second Pokémon you like Add Medicham

I'm not doing gbl much this season. Hit rank 20 for a couple legendary attempts, but thats it. Terrible leagues, no fixes for major issue with lag and inconsistencies, no major changes, removing mid-season move updates, so many mons are xl or legendary where you need specific ivs.

Battle League is just at a lull because of the 2 week spans and the nature of the electric cup. What's drove people away are the blatant, greedy intentions behind pay walling essential features of the game over the past year. COViD drew a big crowd and they saw dollar signs. Even laid people off when they learned how to deal with the increase in players. I used to buy every ticket and spend $20/week on incubators and rrp's. These "season of giving" hypocrite *ss mfs won't get a dime out of me, I don't care if I can only catch Wurmples till I'm 80. I will never help fund anybody with that mindset.

thats is not true... the game from day 1 had been about catching am collecting! it was after a lot of crying that they introduce PvP! am when covid hit the only thing can do to keep the game going was change it from exploring to staying home... which it is what GBL is... or do out need to go out to play GBL!? as for the letting go people from the company well that's is just another Childish way to find a reason to point the finger... if a company fees that a way to save money (pay, health insurance, vacations, bonuses, am more) so they can do that don't mind how much they are doing a year you don't know how much they had to spend!
