She looked younger and acted about 15 years old. At that point they were married at least 8 years. It is creepy how the wives look like school girls from the pioneer days. Adult women in pioneer days did not dress in ruffles and ribbons like children.

I dated someone who came from a polygamist family. His father had 10 wives and around 52 children. He even told me there were 6 generations of kids and each generation spend time separated from the other generations. He doesn’t even n know some older siblings and he also lost a lot in f siblings. It was uncomfortable the day I went to dinner with her mother who disapproved my relationship with his son because I was not agree to share him with more women. He had his traumas and we end up breaking up due to very different life perceptions.

This is absolutely heartbreaking, and I feel for those little children. 😢

I get the sense that some of these women think this is simply a cute, innocent game of "Mommy and Daddy" or "Playing House" (like many kids do when they're small). For anyone who wonders: Tom spent six years in prison, during/after which LeAnn and Hannah left him. He was jailed not for bigamy but for statutory rape, because it was provable that Linda got pregnant at 13 (age of consent in Utah at that time, in the 80s, was 14). He died of COVID in 2021, and Linda, Shirley, and Carrie were with him until he died. LeAnn and Hannah both remarried and seem to live relatively normal lives. Everybody stayed pretty much out of the public eye after he went to prison. Years ago, I stumbled across this organization in Utah called Holding Out Help, which assists people escaping from the FLDS cult. I watched their 'what we do' video, and what do you know, there was Candace, talking about escaping FLDS with her children. So she did end up in an abusive polygamous marriage but escaped and lived to tell the tale. Also they don't mention it in the documentary, but in stories about the court case against him, they mention that Linda was his stepdaughter when he "married" and impregnated her.

It's crazy that this is normal in my town in Eastern Europe with Roma people, there are also kids at night alone begging on the streets, their population grew from around 100 000 to 500 000, most with no documents, or any education in a country of just over 6.5 million.
