    Beautiful! Just a quick question that popped up in my head; if you would have added a reflector on the right side of her, what would you have been looking for in the light/shadows, or otherwise, when determining the distance, position and angle?

    Thanks! It's really personal preference. If you want it as more of a rim, then further behind the model, or if more as a fill, then closer to the front. As for how much or how little fill you want, again it all depends on the mood you're going for.

    It’s amazing that he had so few subscribers, nice tutorials, compact. Maybe that is the problem the algorithm tends to favor videos full of redundancy because it can put more adds.

    That's the issue I think I am running into, and one that I was talking about yesterday :) My longer videos got more traction from the recommended videos on KZread, which is to bad.

    I actually have the Z6II, not the Z7II, and I was using the D800 for a decade before now. I've been really enjoying the Z6II. I didn't see the extra value (+$1500) for the Z7II and I don't miss the extra megapixels.

    Yep. Definitely is. I usually fire my AD600 at 1/8th power to get f/8.

    If you want the light as close as possible, a box or octa will get you closer than a diffused umbrella. But it’s probably only a foot difference and probably not that noticeable of a difference in final results. Nice clean look on the images.

    @@NathanElson understood. They’re much easier to setup too. Check out the Adorama Glow deep umbrellas. A fraction of the cost of Profoto, and they appear to be identical build.

    You can fiddle around until you get the proper exposure, the light meter just takes the guess work out of it.

    one question. you got one permanent light in front of her - where does the flash come from then?

    That's just the modeling light in the strobe, it doesn't actually do anything other than help the camera focus by casting light on the model. Wen the flash fires that's when the light for the photo comes into play.

    Hey Errol, I'm not a speedlite guy. I appreciate there portability, but I've always found more use in having the power and modifier options of a larger strobe over the size of a speedlite.

    you could buy the Godox AD200 or the AD300. More powerful than speedlights but very cost effective compared to brands like Profoto. (assuming you haven't heard of Godox).

    @@NathanElson yes, I have observed that in your videos. My reply was to Errol who asked about speedlights. Is it Godox that you use or rebranded StrobePro? I once got a lightstand with a boom pole from them and am mighty impressed with their quality. I guess they're Canadian as well.

    But what if you don't have a light meter? My problem is that my photos with studio flash just looks more like if I had the model with a backdrop and it's just flash taken like if it was on camera. My Godox goes up to 1/16. Not more than that.

    Sorry - I do not understand. Why is your umbrella permanently lit? Where does the flash come from? Is it inside the umbrella or elsewhere? Are there other lights present? This is the biggest problem I have with many photography tutorials on KZread - they are not clearly explained.

    It's lit from the modeling light, and yes the light is inside the umbrella. This is a one light setup as stated in the title, so no there are not other lights present. I don't think it's a lack of explanation, I think you just need to get your hands on some gear so you know what you are looking at when you watch tutorials.
