Oh man, the movie Loser, mind you it's been nearly two decades since I last watched it, but it was a really good and under-rated movie. If you enjoyed those types of movies at the time, then you would enjoy it. I worked in a video store, remember those? and it was the sort of movie that we only carried one copy of.

There are bands that haven't released new music in decades and are still living large and enjoying the royalties and fruits of their 1 hit labor. Freedom is often offered to those who made it big enough with their hit and by any measure, that's a success in my book.

The problem with that movie is that it just kind of....ends. They're building up all this tension and then all of a sudden they wrap everything up in two minutes and the credits roll and I was left feeling cheated. It's also weird that they chose to show entirely new scenes in the video and not from the movie, but I guess it's because they're in college in the movie and they wrote the song about being in Highschool.

You don't get why teenage dirtbag was such a hit? My man, That song came out the summer of 2000, and whether most of us wish to admit it or not, we were all teenage dirtbags aka Post American Pie/ Pop punk Kids and most of us definitely had that one crush in school... Don't get me wrong teenage dirtbag is definitely not a pop punk song, but the track was so relatable as a teen in high school back in the day. It damn near became a millennial anthem for teens... And you're right it was the end of an era, if I'm not mistaken loser came out in 2000 and American Pie 2 came out in 2001.. I don't think we've had teen comedies with such amazing soundtracks since then. I still love the films and soundtracks of that era.

3:30 That exactly describes Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals, known for their 1999 hit “You Get What You Give.” He’s a really talented songwriter with an ear for good hooks and tasty chords. His short-lived band made quirky, eclectic alternative pop rock-ish stuff. He disbanded the whole thing after one album, before their second single even released, seemingly because the spotlight wasn’t for him. He even wore a hat on stage that was so comically low that it obscured his eyes. After escaping fame, he built up a pretty great portfolio with artists like Hanson, Adam Levine, Santana, Boyzone (some hilariously named Irish boy band), and Sophie Ellis-Bextor with a song called “Murder on the Dancefloor” that was HUGE in Europe and should’ve been big over here. Gregg is an interesting personality with some interesting sociopolitical opinions semi-ironically expressed with New Radicals, but it didn’t translate to being a bold frontman. I’m glad that he was able to forge his own path and do what made him happy. Supposedly, he’s got 8 to 10 albums’ worth of New Radicals material written, so I hope he releases them somehow, even if touring in support of them would be something he’d avoid.

LFO has this other song called "Every Other Time" that I adore. No idea how I even discovered it. It may have been a movie or game soundtrack song or maybe it was getting a push as a single but never got any traction. It really feels nice if you've ever been in a semi-toxic but still kinda ok relationship because it laughs at the whole situation. It's kinda like Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy" with a veneer of TRL-core hip-hop sounds. I genuinely love it. I'm convinced that they were meant to be a boy band parody that was just so close that you couldn't see the satire.

This video was too long. Halfway through it, I got hungry so I left it playing and went to the kitchen to fix myself a sandwich. But then I found out that I'm out of mayonnaise so I went to a store. There, I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole life. But I'm a really shy person so I took up a three-year personality development course so I could introduce myself. She was very friendly and all, but unfortunately, she had a boyfriend. So I said, all good, I'm a mature person. I wanted the best for her and I harbored no illusion that I am the best person for her and she seemed happy with her boyfriend, so I didn't bother her anymore. But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it. I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already since I first saw her. Besides, I am quite happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wanted to live some other life without me in it, so I said, "Okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness." My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally couldn''t take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, "you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get myself a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got so distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video." She said, "You know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer." So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it.
