Great video! For you, I liked number 3. But I would of probably swap the Strat for the Gib with the mini's. Cause I always prefer single coils. But that's just me 🙃 For myself? I have often thought, "If my house was burning down ( God forbid ) and I only had time to grab one guitar ( ( have 7 ) and one amp ( I only have 4 ), what would I save. My rig of choice? 1.The amp - it's a no brainer. My all original 65 Super Reverb. It has the TONE I love and nothing else can compare with it. 2. Effects - I don't have that many effects, maybe four. But I would definitely chose - My Boss Distortion DS-1. It goes good with the 65 SR, and the Yardbirds stuff I LOVE playing. 3. Guitar - NOT so easy! "Right" now, I am leaning towards my Fender Custom Shop Jimmy Page "mirrored", Telecaster. Or the 1954 Strat RI. But this rig of choice is what I play 90% of the time; just switching out between the other 6 guitars. My dream rig? I would only add an original 1954 Esquire to it! BTW, your wife is pretty cool!!! If I ever get married, buying me a guitar as part of the marriage ceremony, will be be in the prenuptial agreement, along with she is NOT entitled to any of my guitar stuff if we part! 😆😆😆😆😆😆 Thanks again!

I think the first rig suits you best my friend. As for my myself, I've been playing for 19 years and I actually just sold off ALL my stuff within the past year to buy a Fender '68 Vibro Champ reissue, an MiM black strat w/maple fretboard and all single coils, and an MXR Carbon Copy (I have bought a couple other pedals too but that's the one I would keep out of the three). I plan on using this rig for a long time, maybe for decade(s) to come. Although I may upgrade the strat to an American made one at some point, not sure. I can't decide if it seems like it's even worth it to do so, the quality on the newer mexican strats is phenomenal.

Hands down, Jack, I'd pick rig number 2 for both of us! You've made some really lovely clean recordings, and I think you would miss not being able to express yourself with those kinds of tones. Plus, the overdriven tones have just the right amount of grit, yet smoothness to cover a number of musical styles. And those neck coil tones are absolutely gorgeous! (Plus candy apple is my all time favorite guitar color!) Personally, I thought the LP mini hummers sound wooly on the low strings even with a clean setup. Rig 1 sounded great for the Blues, but maybe isn't as versatile as #2.

Ive always had a minimalist rig: 1 amp, 1 electric, 1 acoustic, and 3 or less pedals. Always sold/traded for the next thing. Current Rig: Hot Rodded Gretsch G2420 (turned into a 5420T with Dynasonics) into a Nobels ODR-1 into a Keeley Memphis Sun into a Fender Custom 68' Vibro Champ. If I had to pair down for this challenge I would do a Tele into an Echoplex tape unit into a Princeton. Of your three Rigs in this video my favorite was the second. The Amulet amp is amazing, a friend of mine got one last year and gigs with it.

Everyone's different, but simplicity and ultra utility is the key to a successful desert island experience. Fender Strat, and a do-it-all solid state amp like the Boss Katana. Telecaster, Super Reverb, Fuzz Face. With the Super, you get to cheat two bonus reverb and tremolo effects into the deal, the Fender blackface tone that’s good for everything from country to rock to RnB to whatever. Fuzz Face with its excellent cleanup ability with guitar volume gives you from glassy cleans to overdrive to Jimi fuzz. The four speaker cab of the Super also leans into the bigger tones of an amp stack. Telecaster can get you from Strat neck pup territory to Les Paul bridge pup territory.

After debating with myself a lot, I would go with your second choice. For personal meanings (Wife and Son represented), also for being the best team up in my opinion. But for me, I am staying with the amp (Or maybe a lighter Deluxe Reverb or even a Princeton), and picking a more gainy overdrive or even a Fuzz Face instead. I'm even doubting which guitar to pick, if switching to a Tele or even a Custom 24. But I had clear that would have been my starting point.

For myself, I would choose: the Strat and the Supro amp. Over the years, I have developed a preference for the sound (clarity) of single coil pickups rather than humbuckers. It's easier to make a Strat sound like a hum bucker than it is to make a guitar with hum buckers sound like a single coil guitar. I prefer the look of a Strat compared to a Les Paul, or an SG, and I think in terms of construction Strats are more robust and much more easily modded to one's personal preferences. Since I don't know your preferences regarding pickups, tone, scale length, and the musical styles you favor, etc., I don't feel comfortable deciding which is the one and only rig you should have.

He is still alive and I promised not to tell anyone as he would be swarmed with those wanting help. I call it the LENARD. Imagine a Fender Jazzmaster body if it was NOT offset. It has a 50's Tele at the bridge and a 50's middle and neck Strat PU. I literally get the best of both Tele and Strat from one guitar. My second guitar is a Gibson SG Standard Ltd Ed with 57 Classic PU. Amp is easy. A Marshall JMP 50. My 3rd one. I bought my first in London UK in 71.

You will not be surprised to know that I would pick the Les Paul Deluxe rig for me & you could play the 345 rig 😁 Your Pelham Blue Firebird is excellent too.

That Deluxe is just something else. I easily could have picked either of my Firebirds too.

Honestly, my Hot rodded old Peavey Predator covers all the sounds I want to make, plays great, stays in tune. And a Silver Stripe Peavey Bandit with an upgraded speaker can cover just about anything with virtually no maintenance cost. Add a proco rat and there’s no tone I feel like I can’t get.

Gretsch Streamliner 2622 Xotic AC Booster (or Soul Driven, they are similar) Laney VC30 2x10" (UK model with the Jensens) For higher gain, lawsuit-era Yamaha SG w/P90 "Buckers" from Seymour Duncan (splitable dual P90s) into a Valvetone "YP" 50W head (it's a handwired P2P JCM800) into a 2x12 EB cab loaded with Greenbacks. Pedal? Some sort of delay, probably analog. Maybe a Maxon AD-9 Pro. These things I own or have owned. OR... Pre-CBS Fender Strat, Original Echoplex EP-3 (for the preamp and delay) and a HiWatt DR103>4x12 loaded with Fanes. if we lived in a JUST world, I would own all of these.

I'd definitely go with the LP with mini humbuckers. I fell in love with this tone when I heard Rick Beato use one when testing string gauge. Put 9's on it and you're good to go.🤗😁🙂

The Deluxe sounded phenomenal, the bluesbreaker amp, and the combo Rev. Delay pedal!

DSL 100HR with a vintage 1987 4 *10. Gives me every thing I need... If I were to just add 1 pedal it would be a boost. But in reality, I play largely with a boost, delay (slapback I want in the mix but not noticeable because its not PRESENT in the mix) and a chorus. The biggest thing I notice is my 335 sounds good with both my stage rig and my practice rig (the stage rig comes out if Im playing a GIG) but my 74 Les Paul sounds very uninspiring in my practice right and screams in my GIGing rig. Some times its what guitar sounds best on what amp.

I loved the sound of the ES-345 with the JTM the most here. At home too, a similar combination gives the tone I think sounds best (a 335 copy and the Marshall ST20H JTM with Creambacks). ES-345 as your only guitar would be my choice. But while my JTM is my favourite amp, would be hard to choose as my _only_ amp. The drawback is it won't do squeeky clean the way the Fender Super would - can easily get a bit flubby and driven in the bass. But I definitely prefer the ES to the LP - they are more classic and refined sounding, whereas I find LPs sound a bit cheesy somehow - reminds me too much of 70s/80s hair rock excess. I'd probably pair the 345 with the Fender Super, and call it a day. Here at home, I'd pair my 335 with my Vox AC30, because it's more of an all rounder than the JTM (can do cleaner cleans), has tremelo, spring reverb. I don't have any Fender amps at the moment. They're very expensive even second-hand in Europe. But I'm saving up to buy the Fender Deluxe '65 reissue next year. Gotta have a Marshall JTM, VOX AC30 and Fender Deluxe. 3 amps, 3 guitars (335, Tele or Jazzmaster, LP Special or SG) is as restricted as I'd want to be.

Of the three rigs i like #3 for you just ahead of the first. But if I had to come up with a rig suggestion for you it would be a Friedman Twin Sister (2 gain channels and everything from cleaner Bassman/JTM45 tones to JMP), Keeley Caverns reverb/delay pedal and your 335. You could do just about anything very very well

@@JackFossett i think perhaps contrary to popular belief, Dave’s heart is really with lower gain tones. I think you would dig the Dirty Shirley line.

For me it would be a Tele with a Supro Blackmagik reverb and for the pedal I would bring my Danelectro ''The Breakdown'''.

I have an MXR "Badass" distortion (it's an overdrive ) and it's a wonderful thing. Also, I have a Bandmaster tweed with 3 alnico's. I prefer it over my Bassman bc it breaks up sooner.
