    There are a lot of skate tutorial channels on KZread but Katie’s feels the most approachable and easy to follow 👌

    Katie you should come to Canada and do meet and greets. You could even do roller skating clinics, lessons private one on one. I would love to meet you and get a private lesson from you❤

    I'm not sure why, but this is the only transition video that made sense to me lol I've been trying to do them for a couple of sessions now and couldn't get it. Maybe I understand on account of taking a 5-day break 🤔

    Hi Katie, love your tutorials. They have helped me so much! Haven't been on skates since the 70's. Question: In your One Drill Opens Up Nine Skills video, what kind of wheels are those? I need to put indoor wheels on a pair of skates I bought used. They currently have Chaya Mellows, 62mm 78a. The color you have matches my skates perfectly. Thanks so much!🛼🛼

    These are some of my super vintage stock. I’m not sure these were made after the 90’s. They’re Boiani star wheels 70D so super hard and small 57mm. For indoor wheels look for 90a plus. If you’re looking at D scale wheels. To convert to the A scale, add 45 to the D. That gives a good idea.

    Sadly I cannot do the open book/spread transition cause my hips don't open that wide. It's a medical condition so practice doesn't help. I still feel like I can do transitions with your tutorials thank you❤

    Hey Katie! Is it possible for my skates to have no edges at all? I've already tried adjusting my trucks and my wheels only have minimal flexing even though my trucks are already wobbly (it's already too loose). I'm thinking of changing my cushions but I still need second opinions.

  • @Skatie

    @Skatie

    It definitely sounds like your cushions are too hard. Have you seen my “Don’t do it” video. That explains all about trucks and cushions etc.

    Lots of skaters have this problem with hip flex. Gentle yoga and stretching exercises can help. Most skills can be done with the hips as a lesser angle. It just makes the circle smaller.

    @Skatie I appreciate this response so much. I thought I was the only one with this issue because no one talks about it! So I thought it was just me and my hip mobility will be a severe hindrance in my progress. I've been stretching and doing yoga for 7 days now.. hoping it will help eventually 🙏🏾 thank you xxx

    @skatie also has deceptively bent knees, you can easily miss it (when you are not yet used to looking for it in others), but that knee bending helps a LOT with hip mobility and general flexiibility

    What size/hardness of wheels do you use indoors? And are your trucks loose , tight or in between? I have my back trucks tight, but front trucks are very slightly loose. Also, if you haven't already, can you do a downtown tutorial?

    I love a hard wheel inside. 101a and I definitely like a nice loose truck. But make sure that you don’t need softer cushions rather than looser trucks. I have a video which will help.

    but Skatie, what's the difference between a pivot and a 3 turn?

  • @Skatie

    @Skatie

    4 ай бұрын

    They are both the same technique. A three turn is generally used only moving whilst pivots can be used when dancing in place.

    Not always but they do make it easier with a bit of slip. Otherwise you have to lift your feet more which can be a little bit harder.
