This is such a fantastic theme. The chorus and the melodies are perfect.

There were three versions of credits made for season 5 - this was the second and used on 17 of the 25 shows that season. The first version (my favorite) was the shots of Indianapolis in the background with Bonnie, Mackenzie, Pat, and Valerie. The producers knew something was wrong with Mackenzie by this time and they added Michael Lembeck - hence this second version that looks more like a "scrapbook". The third and final version was used the last four episodes - after Mackenzie's first termination. She was removed from the opening credits altogether - Bonnie, Michael, Pat, and Valerie - with the ending shots of Schneider mopping the lobby floor, Ann and Barbara getting the mail, then Max entering with a bag of groceries and slipping on the wet floor. Michael was worried that when he took the job that it would not be for very long. Fortunately, they brought him back along with Mackenzie in the fall of 1981.

I think the Interstate 70 sign in this video was recorded on Raymond Street in Indianapolis, because I recognized the sign from many family trips to see my maternal grandparents in southeast Kansas (driving from the Cleveland, OH area).

This was a season before Glen Scarpelli joined and Valerie Bertinelli cut her hair down to shoulder-level.

This is when the show started to get really good. Julie married Max Horvath and he was not only handsome, but he gave Schneider a run for his money.
