One Day at a Time Intro / Archie Bunker no show January 1981
Ойын-сауық
ALL NEW! I haven't seen this year's intro posted, so here is the intro to One Day at a Time from season 6 in January 1981... First, is a preemption tag for Archie Bunkers Place. CBS even treated it a a Special Presentation by adding in that tag!

CBS just looked for reasons to bust out the epic "Special Presentation" sounder.

Archie Bunkers place did suck. It was nothing like AITF. Surprised it lasted as long as it did.

@@Brandon-lw1wx Archie by that point was more of a grumpy old fart rather than a straight up bigot, and a lot of the edge had come off. Having said all that, it was still Archie Bunker, he had long become an established TV institution, and was still appointment TV for a good chunk of the audience...enough to crank 4 seasons worth out of it
Don't you love that name Bud Wiser? Also, whenever they did that CBS Special Thing, always thought of the Peanuts specials since that's where I saw it the most as a kid.
'The Special Episode' was always exciting....
It's a Victory SONG Forever FOR THE People AMEN
Great Song Forever AMEN ultimate ly Inspirational ly
I remember that "Special Presentation" thing giving me nightmares as a kid.
I think its now the True Hollywood Story network...
one day at a time one of my favorite shows.
This show is practically unwatchable at 22 minutes. I cannot imagine a full hour.
...We had to go to bed after Archie Bunker's Place went off, unless it was Summer. Sunday nights sucked for early grade school kids because Monday morning loomed dark and heavy!
R.I.P.: Bonnie Franklin
What is even sadder is that E! used to be a good channel and showed good shows but like every other damn channel out there it has gone down the terlit and shows modern crapola now. Thanks so much for showing this. That CBS Special Presentaion brings back memories.
"Produced by Bud Wiser". Would have hated to have been stuck with that nickname as a kid.

His real name was Bernard Wiser. I'm not sure how far back he was called "Bud"; an article on him didn't say. He died in 2017 at the age of 87.
I had watched the show for many years from near the end of the CBS run, through the days it was on E! (... and some pisodes on tape)... and that didn't jump out to me until recently! :)
According to Wikipedia (so have a proverbial grain of salt handy) Schnider himself (Pat Harrington Jr) was actually a co-writer of the episode.
...Friday Nights CBS Dallas/Falcon Crest/The Dukes of Hazzard. Saturday Nights ABC/NBC, The Love Boat/Fantasy Island, Gimme a Break. Sunday Nights CBS One Day at a Time, Archie Bunker's Place, Trapper John MD, & mid-80's-the Jeffersons...in our household.
Yes, Really. Now much much he actually wrote I don't know. It could be something as simple as throwing out a few ideas, having them integrated in the script, and getting a credit for it.
Preempting Archie Bunker's Place? Not much of a loss there.
I hope y'all will reply to this Pat Harrington also was the voice of the Inspector in the Inspector cartoons that were shown with the Pink Panther cartoons on Saturday mornings on NBC
The V/O heard announcing that "ABP" would not be seen on this evening is Lee Jordan.
Yup! One Day would come out with these often... I'll upload a late 1983 example in August... :)
@gothsoul82 It was a darker episode than usual, with Schneider seeing someone around Barbara's age... :)
Archie Bunker's Place will not be seen this evening in order to bring you a special one hour episode of One Day at A Time.
Channel 5 preempted "Seinfeld", because of a 2 hr, 30 minute movie.
@WREYtube i wonder if it was a big show on the one day at a time ep
@gothsoul82 One Day at a Time aired a 'special' 1 hour episode... :)
@WREYtube oh got ya but i wnder why it was an hour long did something big happen?
@WREYtube shesh i wonder what happen? can you plz post that episode its been years since i have seen one day at a time. and thanks
I would if I could, but I would be putting my channel at risk... perhaps I'll create another channel sometime if I get the time for complete episodes (As long as they are not available from any other source)... :)
oh wow that must been big hope had a good ending
Here's Another Shocker, Just Recently, E! And Its Sister Network Style Just Rebranded Their Logos.
what was the episode about
Wish you would of Posted the WHOLE episode
im confused about Archie bunkers place being pre empted ABP is a half hour show so is One day at a time wouldn't we was after ABP be pre empted as well.but not mentioned.

Seems they decided that night that the show that came after One Day at a Time was more important than Archie Bunker's Place.
Schneider dates someone more than 30 years younger than him... and whom is into marijuana!
(One Day At A Time) hasn't been seen on Cable since E! had it, and now that network is destroyed.
Merry Christmas in Victory in Jesus Christ The Lord forever Amen.
how come archie bunker's place was pre empt?
I'll take a guess, January 18,1981?
I hate E!, the people who run it need to be fired, they used to have (One Day At A Time), (The Love Boat), (WKRP In Cincinnati), (Alice), (Kate & Allie), (Too Close For Comfort), and I'm not sure what others they had, it's a nightmare now!

At least we got MeTV and Antenna TV that airs old sitcoms and westerns
@Retrotv

@@joshuabrunken3848 They got too many westerns, they need to tone them down as there is plenty of room for classic shows, as for ATV, problems, Pop ups and Split screens, what's worse is sometimes episodes get skipped for nothing like (Three's Company).
@WREYtube you mean the "All Kardashian, All the time" Network.
What's sad is E! never does any THS about TV shows of the past, all they care about is the boring celebrities of today and that dreaded reality!
...Ron Rifkin always got on my nerves...too intense for this relatively light-hearted show. ...Bonnie Franklin was as mercurial an actress as this show needed in any one episode without Rifkin.
Thank God is was pre-empted. Archie Bunker's Place pretty much sucked.
