Hey Jack, I wanted to give my appreciation to these podcasts. My son (6 mo) just got sent to the ER and now ICU. We'll be up listening to the stories all night while he gets better. Hopefully, we will be out of here tomorrow, but tonight, we'll listen and fight.

Easily one of the best docs from this channel. The friend that snitched to THE FBI over a woman was beyond petty. I can't even compute how someone could do something like that.

Man, it's hilarious how Runescape was the entry point for so many hackers. Myself included, it taught me to be hyper-catious of social engineering, got me into programming and showed me what keyloggers and phishing was. It was such a toxic community where you couldn't trust a soul. But that's what made it so fun and crazy..Ah good old Runescape.

spare gp plox? was always the easiest loot, I was doing social engineering at the grand exchange at 11. I would ask players if they had spare training items like shitty arrows or mind runes for training the shittiest spells. Since I would ask for such small amounts instead of asking for high amounts people would run to help someone they thought was an actual noob. I made 2m gp one day in 07 scape just from people giving me 50k here 100k there. when I was asking for things around 10 -20 gp ea. Eventually people on every world knew who I was and that I was just another person lyiing about being a noob, so it became less efficient. that is until I made new accs lol.

I’m in cybersecurity and have learned more from your podcasts than all formal training. The episode on ransomware as a service was eye opening. The other people I work with had no idea there was a whole well organized enterprise set up to support ransomware with affiliates and a help desk etc….I’m recommending they all listen to your podcast.

Correct but you can make enough barriers so they hack less or they don’t deem it’s worth the effort vs the reward compared to other targets. It is like having multiple loud barking dogs at your house. Sure, they can still steal stuff, but they would have less time to do so and why bother if the house down the road have no dogs and similar stuff to steal?

@@ChineseKiwiThis. You can look up what a Federal Site requires for their Physical Security & Internet Security. It's ALL about layers. With Physical Security you can have: -fences with barbed wire -cameras -motion detection sensors -sensors on the fence that detect tampering & a break in the fencing -radar type detection that goes through walls etc & you CAN'T even see the device itself -Security Guards -controlled gates & entry points -infrared cameras Sure EVERY system has its vulnerabilities & weaknesses but you'll run face first into layer after layer until it will break your determination. With weakened determination comes a time where you'll slip up at batting 1000 & then you're caught & arrested.

These guys have 2 problems: 1. They just post it to a website and expect people to care. No storytelling to lead people down the rabbit hole to why it such agredgeous crimes and breaches of rights. Solution: talk to a Darknet Diaries for journalistic coverage. 2. Other politicians would happily use this. Print and mail to oversight committees. And federal DAs.
His mom took away his wifi... then he downloaded a wifi hack. .. with no internet?
Very interesting that they hacked into all those places.. Like i did see in a hacktivist clip here on youtube.. " who will supervise , the supervisor's".. Like if FBI gather's metadata on civilians, who will Supervise and see that it isn't abused ? And who will supervise that supervisor(and so on?)? So yea, if they don't have our metadata, you can sleep well at nights :) Then again if they don't have metadata, how will they find offender's and people who commit crime? ... What if FBI would gather metadata in a super encrypted computer and only when you do a crime, it would only be accessable to FBI-agent's ? In the end, everything man-made can get hacked and every human on earth can be corrupted.. All comes down too oneself, will i abuse my power or not? Can't find and don't think there is a universal solution. If the world would be a perfect place, i still think greed and jealosy, would ruin it :P
