Thank you for posting this! I'm a beginning spinner and you explained a lot of terms i was struggling with and helped me visualize things better when looking at roving.

Awesome! I’ve been scratching my head on how to get the colors mixed the way I want on a combed top braid and thought the only way to do it was a blending board or carding but you’ve shown how to blend different ways without all the extra equipment and to keep the result from becoming too muddy. If you want to play with how colors interact but don't want to sacrifice a braid, use silly putty! It comes in a variety of colors and can be rolled into ribbons of varying lengths and widths. It isn't quite the same, but for quick and dirty sampling, it works quite well.

I kept waiting for you to lay out the different methods side by side: 1) two half strips matching, 2) two half strips fipped, and 3) a half strip next to the 4/8 strips. That would have been nice to see.

Hi Sara, you are one of my favorite you tubers! Hope you and your family are fairing well in this pandemic. I miss you, as Laura Walters said” you could post every day and I’d love it. Your work in spinning and weaving are so perfect looking! I too have received fiber from three waters farms, and love their fibers. I spun some of their merino died in “spring faster” colorway(very bright colors) I have it all spun on one spool and am preparing to chain ply it. I single plied it straight from one end to the next, and now I’m wondering what in the world am I going to do with the finished product, because I think I’m going to end up with huge blocks of color. It certainly won’t make the self striping sock yarn I was invisioning, do you think? I had one other question- I watched one of your videos on making good edges on weaving projects. It looked like you were using ridged heddle. What kind of loom do you have and is it capable of using double heddles? I have a schacht single heddle, and am wondering if purchasing a loom that can use two heddles would be worth it

Aww, thank you so much! With how you've spun your singles, you can chain ply it and still have a self striping yarn. If it is fine enough, it could be a sock yarn. Just split the plied yarn in half and you *should* have matching socks. You could also knit a scarf or something of narrow width and have relatively even bars of color. As far as the loom, that was an Ashford Rigid Heddle with the second Heddle block. I am not sure what Schacht offers. I now have a table loom and do not have that loom anymore. I love the table loom WAY more than the RHL. Easier and faster to weave more complex drafts.

Yes, the same methods apply. The only thing you need to be mindful of is your cop order. That way when you go to ply, you keep things in the order you intend it be. @lindawhite
