I'm a new spinner looking to try some more methods of plying; this looks great. Excellent job of showing the bits we really need to see in order to learn without having to fast-forward through a lot of spin-spin-spin the part we already know.

I cannot see how you bring the spin part into the loop the first part of the video. Do you bring the yarn just threw the loop. Your working it a bit not clear enough. The first for me.

When you ply the yarns together do you spin the opposite direction from when you made the singles?

Can’t speak for the OP, but having given it a go I recommend plying in the opposite direction to your spinning.

I looked very closely in the video, and she starts her leader clockwise, and then does the first chain ply counter-clockwise. So yes, just as you'd expect, the ply has to be opposite of the original spin. (With plying, the objective is to get the spins balancing one another so it doesn't pull itself apart.)

Can this technique translate to a kick spindle or a bottom whirl?

Absolutely! Your makes just need to be a little longer so you can use the top hook of the bottom whorl. I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be used with a kick spindle. I've never used one so I can't be of much help but I'd imagine the mechanics are much the same and a drop spindle. Just be mindful of your twist directions!
