We really needed to know about shot direction accuracy as well for a full review. If anything this is more important because if there's a discrepancy in shot shape, this is how you decide to make swing changes.

I tried both but decided for the R10. Mevo+ was more accurate but the indoor setup had to be excellent, the garmin is not so touchy. On the mevo, the lighting can affect the reading, also if there are heavy steel objects around can throw off the readings, or other electrical devices.The garmin is much easier to set up too, and doesn’t need an internet connection (mevo does). The garmin’s price and simplicity made it my choice in the end.

Great video. I hope you can do a side spin accuracy test between R10 and Mevo Plus or against the sim. Whether you're hitting it straight or slicing is an important factor and inaccurate side spin could be a dealbreaker, as I'm in the market for an R10 or Mevo+. thx

Ooooh I love that idea! Are you using a launch monitor now?

What you didn't comment on though was the although Mevo+ was slightly more accurate regarding distance, it was actually reporting bigger discrepancies with the clubhead speed and the spin in many cases than the R10 was. Some of those clubhead speed differences were pretty substantial. Cheers.

@@GolfersAuthority No, I don't but I've been considering an R10 for quite a while with an outside chance of going for Skytrak or Mevo+. The stuff that I've been seeing lately with the R10 while employing either RCT balls or metal dots for better spin numbers has gotten me pretty close to going ahead and getting an R10 which will suit fine for my needs which are just winter golf that gives me some reasonable sense of what the ball is doing. Cheers.

Do you change the altitude humidity and temperture to get more accurate readings on Home Tee Hero?

@@GolfersAuthority With the newish update on the R10, the range is going to make the alt/humidity/temp the same as wherever you currently are. If you are playing on a course with home tee hero, it's going to make the alt/humidity/temp whatever it currently is at that course. I live in MI and I got on my r10 after a few months of not using it. I didn't notice that there was an update and was getting frustrated for a good week that my distances were all going short. I was also hitting everything to the left because I also never noticed that you could calibrate it. After I manually adjusted the temp/humidity and calibrated it, I was back to hitting my normal distances.

Awesome video, distance accuracy is impressive. Have you found big discrepancies in spin, which is where I have heard that the differences are considerable.

No not too much. I am using the RCT Golf Balls now and that helps.

Have you compared R10 against Mevo (non +)? Those two are much more in the same price range. Mevo+ is so much more expensive that R10.

From a cost / benefit standpoint, I would go with the R10. Both are quite impressive.

Great video. Did you use the stickers on the Garmin. Heard that is making it even better. I have the Garmin and love it.

I tried the stickers and I never really could get it to work. I need to do a test video using stickers and using non-stickers. I bought the titleist RCT golf balls and they work great but they are $65 a box. But worth it if you are indoors. How long have you had your r10?

@@GolfersAuthority I have had it since June. I used it at home in a makeshift Simulator but outdoors at night so the bugs got me after a bit. I was taking it to the range more as I bought a new set of T300s and use to help dial in my distances. Might buy a Net return and put it in the garage this winter? Wish I had your setup, next house. Great video. I think that is too small a sample size to come to a comprehensive conclusion but those Mevo numbers were very impressive. My only comment on the R10 results is that drive that was out by 7 yards was a bit of a pull hook i.e. a mishit so I think it's always likely there will be a bigger discrepancy on mishits. Either way I'm very happy with the R10. Both great units but for my usage I couldn't justify the higher price of the Mevo.

Great point! I think on mishits the R10 may have a little difficultly picking it up sometimes. I was very impressed with the Mevo Plus. But for almost $2,000 and the R10 at $599 the numbers are so close that for me I would rather go with a more affordable unit. Even though I own both. The Mevo Plus is fantastic and I am going to do a video of the Mevo Plus vs the $50,000 simulator. One of my main gripes with it is that the battery doesnt last that long and you cant use it while charging. Which is lame. How long have you had the R10?

@@GolfersAuthority I've the R10 since August. Love it but I don't have a home setup. I have a big double garage with plenty of room for a simulator bay but unfortunately the ceiling is just too low. Such a shame. So most of my use is either at the range or into a net at my golf club. Both are great just not as convenient.

I have the r10, getting inaccurate readings. 5i 101 distance? Pw 121 swing speed 101 distance. Driver 180? 3w 141 distance? Setup is in the garage.

600$ for a simulator that is pretty close wins hands down. If you’re a teacher then I would go for the Mevo+ just to have close to perfect accuracy.

Good catch. I love the Garmin r10 and have about 15 videos on it in the last few months. Do you have an r10? If so what are your thoughts on it?

Did you use RCT balls in this test?

Carry is indeed better, but spin is all over the map for the mevo+. No use in dialing in your driver. Also off for the 7i. Really surprised for a device so much more expensive

wow it was clear from the intro you was going to love on the R10. If you like calculated numbers verses real readings then the R10 has the upper hand . But if you want real numbers and not rely on a algorithm as much then the mevo is the winner. Why did you not go over how to make sure your mevo+ up to date or cover what numbers the units are able to read for real and what are estimates? the r10 is more of a toy but if your on a budget it will do ;)

@@GolfersAuthority I have the mevo+ but i have friends who have a skytrac and a R10. I personally think the R10 is great for those who just want to hit balls and play around in winter. But not for real pratice. Skytrac is the next step up if ya want real numbers but are in a confined space (but i feel this unit has the hardest time seting it up and getting tuned in right" and then if you have the room to use it the mevo+(standard not plus) is the best option i feel. I will admit the R10 has improved alot since it came out .

Here is the issue with all these comparisons. You NOT comparing to actual carry. You are just comparing how one compares to the other. WHERE is the actual comparison OF EACH to REALITY? Let's think.....the more expensive might not be reading correctly either.

@@GolfersAuthority I'm going rogue. I've got a R10.... I was going to DYI a frame, impact screen, and the projector..... then I saw a 65" samsung 4K tv for $445. I think the impact screen and the projector is old tech....and really expensive. I'll put my imagination to work and hit into a net and look at the beautiful 4K results on a 65" screen right in my face.

@@GolfersAuthority End of Sept 21 had no problems with it . Apart from some misreads with chips but didn’t have unit level with hitting mat once that corrected all good !! Great unit 🏌🏼‍♂️
