Aura Rose Fitzgerald i dont think it showed that she was unoriginal but mimicked her idols and brought a light on modern women who loved. she was inspired by them, she didnt copy those exact looks but made them into her own style making them more chic and comfortable for an everyday woman instead of the elite. But i do agree with the casting everyone was casted perfectly except Coco herself, I guess no one can really portray her versatile personality perfectly. but miss knightly was also the face of chanel at the time i believe so its make sense for her to act her role

That's very ironic...considering Mademoiselle Chanel's take on fashion was to move away from the feminine and towards easy to wear and comfortable. She'd significantly reduced the size and frill of the hat, shortened the hemline and streamlined the skirt and also started using jersey (the cloth), which was used only for men's underwear then, for women's outerwear.
@vintagerose1210

Yes, but she still wanted clothing to be elegant, "luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury"; she still wanted her clients to look beautiful and put together. T-Shirts and jeans, (unless properly styled) look lazy, and rather pathetic in my opinion. But I understand where you're coming from. I believe SANA means to say, there needs to be more thought and effort put into the average person's wardrobe these days. Chanel put in the effort to make her style comfortable AND elegant, whilst too many people today do not.
@Deed1979

+Vintage Rose Absolutely agree with you. She wanted classic and elegant clean cut lines (not the in-your-face frills and flouncy of the time) without being mundane or pedestrian. Complicated thought and yet so simple. That's why I love Chanel! She even managed to make faux fashionable and elegant! With the faux pearls and the No. 5 I mean. I apologize for rambling on, but she's my greatest inspiration...as a woman.
My favorite of all of Karl's short films. It truly captures an era well. Keira Knightley is a great actress so that definitely helps. I could really believe this was shot back then.
I love how Karl is able to give us a glimpse into this world as an interpretation but in a sense truthful. It helps and gives much astounding appreciation for Chanel.

Fashions are elegant....
It was an imagined scene of a day in the life of running her shop. The casting was brilliant - what a treat to see Stella as a client . The dialogue was difficult as its set in 1913, people spoke very differently .

The English accents were all very modern, not of the time, I think. They would have been much more refined and 'plummy' back then. But there again, they were supposed to be speaking French, so maybe it doesn't matter...
So compelling. I was sorry to see this end. Beautifully done. Bless your soul Mr. Lagerfeld.

@@iryna1722 That's not the point. The point is, people no longer try anymore. The average person has access to a plethora of affordable choices, but chooses to walk around in tees that lampshade over their cloth shorts. Most women don't even do anything with their hair anymore, it's all about keeping it straight, and absolutely no makeup. And my God, don't get me started on the despicable footwear and ugly bags.
