Mama's voice is phenomenal!

My school Musical Theatre program was going to perform Once On This Island. We all made friends with each other, the leads were amazing, and the choreography and blocking was so much fun. Even though I was just part of the ensemble, the whole cast still felt like a family. Unfortunately, Covid-19 came along, and school was cancelled for the rest of the year before we even got to tech week. While it’s sad, and now I probably won’t be able to perform in it for a long time, I’ll never forget the experience, and it will always be a part of me.

I am sooo happy that I get the honor to play Ti Moune in our 8th grade show and take it to competition in California. I LOVE this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many times is it possible for tears to erupt out of my tear ducts during a song?

My school just performed this. I wanted to be in it but couldn’t bc of a sport. But I would have given anything to be in it. But never has a musical brought me to tears (except for Lion King) but this part made me cry..the song and everything..so sad that she died..but his part just gets me every time

This song killed me like i though it was gonna end with a happy ending but nah

i got to see this live when i went to new york and it crushed my heart and i was in tears...such a powerful cast and show 😭❤️

we did this at our school. I played Pp ge and i was crying cuz of this song

I did this play for a local theater. During this scene everyone in the cast was crying, except for one person. That person was me. I was called a heartless witch by nearly everyone in the cast. I didnt cry because I saw my mom die the year before this play, I was numb to death at point, real or fake.

this was commented a year ago, but I'm sorry for your loss. You did not deserve that; no one gets to govern your feelings. I hope you're doing okay now, and I hope, away from the insensitive cast members who nitpicked your reaction.

My schools doing this show and were going to have a real water and waterfall and river. Aswell as rain. We have a choreographer and everything!.

So how do her parents find out she died? (Is this answered in the musical, I haven't seen it) Because they were sad to see her leave, and she likely would have come back to visit if she had lived (she clearly cared about them), so who had to tell them their daughter drowned (and then became a tree)?

KL _144 I did this show & at least in the version we did, Ti Moune is sent out of the gates of the hotel & she sits there for two weeks, not sleeping or eating & when daniel and andrea are married, they throw coins to the peasants & Ti Moune dies after that. I’d say the presents informed Mama and Tonton

Barred from the hotel, Ti Moune waits for two weeks to try and meet Daniel at the gate. As Daniel and Andrea are married, they follow an old tradition of throwing coins to the peasants outside the hotel gates. Ti Moune calls to Daniel who gently places a silver coin in Ti Moune's hand, kisses her cheek, and leaves. The storytellers tell of how the gods were moved to tears by Ti Moune's selflessness and love, and chose to bestow a final kindness on her; Erzulie took her by the hand and led her to the ocean, where Agwé allowed her to drown peacefully. Papa Ge received her gently and brought her back to shore where Asaka transformed her into a tree
