The northern and central mountains saw around 6 to 12 inches of snow. Denver and surrounding communities along the I-25 Corridor saw around 2 to 4 inches of snow.
Thursday will be very cold, with a morning low of 11 degrees below zero and the afternoon "high" around zero. The cold arctic air will be dry, with perhaps just some ice crystals floating in the frigid atmosphere.
A Wind Chill Warning is in effect through Friday and Coloradans are asked to prepare for dangerous wind chills dropping as low as 25 to 50 degrees below zero. This kind of cold is certainly life threatening, so be prepared if you will be traveling.

Once in a generation is a massive overstatement. It snowed like 1 inch there and it's extra cold lmao

I agree! I got about 4 inches of snow and bundled up to go outside for a bit. That's it. I'll take that any time over 3 feet of snow and days to dig out.
I hope everyone makes their trip safely. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Yep and I’m going to Denver rn lol I’m on the airport. I hope everyone has a safe Christmas

I dont understand why people dont check weather prior to traveling, if a bad storm is coming chances are flights will be cancelled

Not flights to Florida. So you're wrong.
I have two double coated dogs, they whined to be let out into the back yard, 20 minutes later, they were standing at the back door. They walked in like the winners!
Once in a generation? LOL
This is good for the Colorado river
Does anyone remember Christmas of 1982? This is nothing. Now that was a storm that literally shut down the country! The thumbnail is a lie! In 1982 , we had 20 foot snow drifts in Brighton.

a lot of snow, but not -70 ... big difference
This is actually unacceptable for Denver, a cold state, a snow state, they should have had the plows and de icer ready. If Fairbanks and Anchorage can keep planes flying for most part in much colder weather, we should have had the same here, warm winters isn't a common thing for the state.

I remember when DIA was billed as an "All-weather" airport. Of course they also spent billions on a baggage system that never worked. Plus, it's very common to have warm-ups during the winter. This is "stock show" weather. It's just a few weeks early.
I hope some warmer weather comes soon.
Flying on Christmas day. Warm by then.
They been putting the news out a month ago about the bad weather people should have known to plan B because of the hassle thats why i did my travel early dec but i know alot of people booked months b4 the thing is get those vouchers like i did at least to make the kids happy because this artic blast is not playing God bless the families and those babies and to every one
Meanwhile its 39° at my house in the San Luis Valley.
300+ flights canceled. Unless you are the Broncos heading to a playoff game on the way to the Superbowl. Can't remember what year that was.
Warm in balmy 60° here in California😊

Denver will catch up with you in a few days. And most of the delays at DIA are due to far worse weather conditions in other parts of the country.
You younger generation haven't experienced bad to extremely bad weather yet. The blizzard of 78 Was far far far worse than this. That was the worst snow storm Our generation ever seen literally feet upon feet of snow. It shut everything down for over a week. The temps were freezing bitter cold as well.

Ancient Colorado Ski Bum Advice. Stay the hell home during mass suicidal migration during the winter. Book epic vacations when as few flockers are here, as possible. Unless you live to stand in lines and waste hours of your life.

No pity for the fliers. The three "P"s. Piss Poor Planning. I know, I know. Tons of excuses. Still, piss-poor-planning. I'd rather be stuck at an airport than be a passenger in a crash.
look ma no blizzard! Hahahahahahahah
Why don’t people just stay home? Who won their right mind would travel during the holiday? Especially in an ice storm.

It's as if this type of weather never happens. People want to make everything so complicated these days. Yes it's cold but its CO, I think humans and animals have evolved into a weaker species in these last couple of decades or something.

Climate change destabilizes the polar vortex, pushing warm air up into the Arctic, and all that cold air coming into North America. These extreme weather conditions would also likely mean extreme summers once more. It is not just about the Earth getting too hot anymore, but also having extreme weather, extreme droughts, etc. Become more common over the years. Expect to see climate refugees scramble to America in the coming decades.
