Thanks for the suggestion. I suspect LR and Luminar Neo will win due to their generative AI. A good test nevertheless.

The new ON1 masking has finally let me easily mask spiders including their legs fairly accurately, including with changes of contrast when using a flash where the furthest legs lack contrast which I guess would make them harder to identify

Yes the ON1 masking is now pretty smart. Every editor should have object masking, really a leap in performance over older methods

wasn't Luminar the first with AI and object masking?...

Yes it depends what you consider to be object masking. From what I'm aware Lightroom 11 was the first with select subject and select sky launched back in Oct 2021. Luminar launched with object masking in may 2022 but limited to predefined objects (i.e. sky, persons, transport etc..). Lightroom 12 launched in Oct 2022 was first with true object masking where you could mask ANY object. Luminar 1.19 Object Select which also allowed to mask any object was launched only April 2024.
