On track with our Gallardo for the first time! Mission (mostly) Accomplished!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It wasn't perfect, but mission mostly accomplished. After our failed attempt back in December, and a lot of work in between, we were finally able to get our Lamborghini Gallardo onto and around a circuit for the first time!

Thanks! Yeah, more to come on the brake situation. May just need better cooling and some more aggressive pads (so I don't have to be on the pedal as long to get the stopping done).

Sounds like brake pad knockback. A very light left-foot brake pedal tap while on the straight is a way to take up that pad/rotor gap before the braking zone.

Yeah, I probably under-explained on camera. This was 100% a fluid issue. I'm a big proponent of that "confidence tap" to both set the pads and make sure you have pressure into a fast braking zone. On that day, they were still pretty mushy several turns later after lots of pumping and I had to just alternate between 1st and reverse when parking until it stopped rolling because there was ZERO pressure, lol. I'll definitely report back with any findings.

Maybe it’s time to trade the Lambo for something more reliable - like a mid90’s Chevy Caprice or Subaru WRX?? Haha

What are your thoughts on AMP for a relatively novice driver? I’ve been eyeing the Track Night events here, but the lack of instruction and relatively few areas for giving point-bys gives me pause. I want to enjoy my time on track, but don’t want to feel like I’m holding everyone up if I’m struggling to get up to speed.

The 2 passing zones (for novice group) are the limiting factors with traffic management. At this event at least, it didn't look like a conga line out there, but that potential exists if one or two people aren't paying attention. That said, there's really only two places you can get in real trouble: exit of T16 and entry to T1. IMO Talladega GPR or even Nashville Super Speedway might be more novice friendly, but may not be as close. 10/10 for instructed events though vs. non-instructed when you're newer to the track driving hobby.

😁'Big reason we bought this one in particular. E-gear I'm sure would make more sense for track use, but this feels more rewarding.
