On the Trapline Ep. 5 - I am Done Trapping

Ойын-сауық

After a short, successful season out on the Trapline we have now pulled it all down. It has been a blast but made sense to finish trapping. We reflect on the adventures and all the learning that has come from being out on the trapline. Trapping has had a massive impact on me.
Welcome to Traplines and Inlines, this channel focuses on my dog and I on our remote Off the Grid Homestead in Northern Canada. I make videos on off grid homesteading and building, trapping, chickens, mechanical projects, and hunting and fishing.
I went offgrid and started building my cabin over two years ago, while I was still in highschool. Since then I have built many things at the homestead and have had the priviledge of learning many things along the way.
The homestead is designed to be relatively low maintenance and with extremely minimal expenses. All of my electricity comes from solar power, heat from woodstoves, and I haul all my water so I dont have any monthly costs associated with my homestead.
I love the lifestyle, especially because it gives me the absolute freedom to do whatever I please. I plan on continuing to tackle awesome projects and work at building and fixing many more things, and I cant wait to share them with you on the channel.
Thanks for watching!

Dude. I think most of us just enjoy watching your random day to day nonsense. Be it trapping, or just random nothing. I loved watching you build the cabin. Cutting firewood, building the coop. Just your daily nonsense, I love it. I think you put to much on yourself on trying to cater. Just go at it and film what ya do. We love it. Maybe build some be things for the homestead? Work on the road, setup a sawmill for lumber, do little projects. Love the content, please don't ever stop.

My friend, it's not the trapping, it's not the trucks, it's not the Bush. It's you man! Sure, all of those things are truly a wonderful accent, but you man. It's your thirst for life! Your thirst for learning, progress and your success at shrugging things off when things go to shit, and your ability to make it work. You are the real hero in this story my brother. For me i like watching what other people that live a totally different lifestyle do day to day. I'm an old trapper from the 1960's through the early 80's. Drove a 1966 jeep on the trapline. Broke down and got stuck multiple freaking times, and usually so far out that there just wasn't any help. I can't count how many times got stuck and put whatever Conibears I had with me under the tires to get some bite to get out of a ditch or hole. Thanks for posting your stuff. Trapping is never about the money it's about the conservation and to keep the trade alive we all need to stick with it and do our part. You have helped shine some light on this dying art and probably inspired the younger generation to get their licence so they can trap. I personally would love to see the trapping content to continue, even if it's here and there and not a regular thing. That being said I know the pain and the struggle. Never watched a trapping video in my life until your channel. I like the outdoors life, fishing, hunting , off grid living. Watched the trapping videos out of respect for your hard work, and your personality making it entertaining. I’m sure whatever direction you decide to go people will keep tuning in. No shame in admitting your burnt out on doing something. We all gotta change direction every now and again.

I love all your videos no matter what you’re doing , keep those Videos coming . I know it’s frustrating having a broken down truck , too much snow & getting stuck all the time isn’t really worth continuing with the trapping . Do “you” like always no matter what your content & I am quite sure we all will follow your journey in life . Best regards from Newfoundland , regards , Perry !! 👍

Maybe you can do a poll of your audience of how many are here for the trapping and how many are here for the other stuff, or how many are fine with both. Personally I'm fine with both.

You're a very informative and entertaining guy and I'll stay no matter what you cover. I came for the cabin build and off-grid stuff and that has really helped me with my own off-grid pursuits. Your shingling video was the most helpful video on KZread when I was at that phase of my cabin build!

I will miss the trapping, but I know it gets old. And prices suck this year. Your personality is the show.

Honestly I started watching you when u were building the cabin. That’s what drove me to subscribe to your channel. I like the projects you do around camp. Trapping isn’t my favorite but I still watch. Do what motivates you. I’m sure a lot of people like me will be here no matter what you do.

I watch this channel because I was most impressed by your drive, Your ingenuity. How young you were and how smart you are. All the combination of of videos are real life. The ups the downs and how you deal with them. I guess I'm living a dream vicariously through you. I envy your way of life. Take a long break and figure things out. We will all be waiting impatiently for your next videos what ever they are. I still enjoy the trapping and everything you do. Its Real life for a Bushman and you have impressed me. ( not your cooking and eating Habits LOL!!!! ) You are funny and I find myself laughing all the time. Keep up the Good work !!!

I doubt if any of us watch because of only one topic. Building, trapping, repairing, all these things are of interest because you are in it, doing it. So what is comes down to is we are watching you. You are what keeps us coming back regardless of what you are up to. With that in mind I would suggest that whatever you decide to do the majority of your viewers will still look in regularly and stay subscribed because it's you as much as what your doing that we are enjoying. If you enjoy doing something we will enjoy it with you. So move on, move up, do whatever works for you and most of us will be right there with you. Good video. Pax.
