Philip is nasty on guitar. Loud fendery tone and intensity of SRV, and fuzzes it out like Hendrix. Puts it all together and then gives it a steroid injection. Monster player, and always seems very humble when interviewed. Appears to almost go out of his way to be polite and attentive to anyone who talks to him. I Wish him as much success as he wants!

Philip is by far one of the greatest blues players around, one of my personal favorites and biggest influences. Having a tone or playing style to SRV is a compliment, the best one you can get. If there's someone who doesn't understand that, either jealous or just close minded. This is called keeping the flame and I personally don't want Stevie's legacy to be lost especially when Kanye Wests and Justin Beibers rule the music business today.... Just think about it.

***** I've never known a guitarist who isn't a bit emulation and a bit their own. I've listened to a whole lot of Philip's playing and I can hear SRV's influence but not necessarily more than I hear Albert Collins, Freddie King, or Hendrix influence. I find Philip's playing to be extremely unique and…if you find it boring then who on earth do you find exciting?

I saw Phillip when he was with Jeff Healey at Hampton Beach Casino in the mid 90's and he was amazing on both guitar and vocals. We actually ran into the whole band hanging out in the parking lot after the show and we spoke with Jeff, Joe and Tom for a while and then Phillip came out and he was truly a regular guy. He actually apologized to me when he got distracted by another fan during our conversation. I have always remembered that. Very talented guy who truly respects his fans.

if you look closely(i also read this somewhere), he is only running the tuner of the one spot, the rest is running on batteries, except the Mega vibe, which has its own power supply(because it doesn't run at 9v), and the Ep3 delay which has it's own power supply. that's why his rig is so quiet with all those pedals. Some people(Eric Johnson fx.) even prefers the sound of some pedals using Batteries instead of power supplies.

@Gvecchi Not only in this video. If you check other videos of him you'll notice that he has the classical SRV kinda clean/crunchy sound. But I like it. I like his SRV aproach, but at the same time he has his own voice. He's more rock oriented. In fact some times he plays hard rock. SRV was criticized at the beginning 'cause of the same reason. People used to say that he was a Hendrix clone, but years later time put him on the right place.
