On The Prowl (Mega Construx Animation)
Фильм және анимация
Commentary:
Rushed as fuck. It's really noticeable which parts I rushed because they're lower quality (both in animation and editing). Sorry, I was just getting really sick of doing this animation.

the sudden urge to make a stopmotion just by watching this is amazing
The suppressed BR VFX and SFX were superb. That was perfection. The Supercombine was very nice as well. Nice job, Hollow!

Nice use of Fallout sound assets. Fit pretty well.
The simplistic backgrounds work really well
I’m so jealous I’ve wanted those ODSTs for so long. And loved the lighting
I loved everything about the stop motion, the scenery, the characters, the set everything
One of my old time fav videos I watch when I’m bored
I love your practical effects and the use of those white window pieces in the scene, great animation!
The ODST video wit the new Vegas ending song
I also like your use of blue energy swords for the grav hammer, I’ve wondered about using them the same way
This was absolutely amazing for stop motion! Its clean ,its smooth, and very good! 11/10
Very nice! I like the idea of a silenced battle rifle. Your animations are quite entertaining, and I continually rewatch these for help on technique, lighting, etc. Great job!
The New Vegas theme at the end was unexpected but welcome
I have a LOT to learn from these kinds of videos
nice stop motion!!!! i wish to make a stop motion like this one day!!!!!
My favorite scene was here: 4:36 Because of the white's odst movement. Very smooth, keep up with the little details!
I loved this animation, I have been looking for this for a long time, excellent soldier animation 👍
Nice, very nice.
I really like the use of sound effects and audio ques, well timed and used. Very good stop Motion
Great job. Love the use of positive and negative space in your set design (the shot of the vehicles going by). The animation was well done and improved over past animations. Great job as always.
Amazing work! This ties into your bigger animations too! Keep at it!
This is among some of the most godly animation quality I've ever seen in the halo mega construx stop motion community congrats man and I can't wait to see more of your work in the future. You're a legend
this is good content, and the animation is smooth
As always, your work continues to impress. Well done hollow.
Awesome video. Keep out the good work
Great job! :)
Dude this looks awesome, I've messed around with stuff like this and it really takes some work. Good job man!
Strange looking battle rifle, i like it!
I wish we had behind the scenes for these stop motions

Yes
Amazing video, in every aspect. This is exactly how I want my works to be, in fact this kind of plot (for lack of a better term) is what I envision for my own future projects (an ODST team with some marines fighting covenant until reinforcements arrive). One piece of constructive criticism/discussion topic, muzzle flash on suppressed weapons. I see many people do this, I have no problem with it but I can’t help but thinking about it every time I see it. It’s doesn’t really make sense, so What’s a good alternative to the yellow/orange pieces and muzzle flash for suppressed weapons? Do you think simply small pieces of cotton or grey tac at the end of the suppressor w/o flash would be a good alternative for such weapons? (Ofc the smaller orange/yellow pieces hitting the enemy would still be used) It always gets me thinking, and I think that’s what I want to try whenever I’ve amassed enough sets and pieces for higher end vids. Very enjoyable video friend, keep it up!

Thanks, although I think this debate is moreso about stylization vs realism. Personally, I try to stay away from being too realistic in my animations because, well, they're megaconstrux figures- and they also lend themselves well to more stylized and experimental types of animation. I prefer shining lights on muzzle flashes because it stands out more and give the gun a more punchy and impactful feel (hence why their recoil is high and why the camera shakes so much when they shoot). That's not to say that the light is inherently unrealistic either, muzzle flash is generally dependent on ammunition, time of day, barrel length, and etc. It is still a light source to some degree. Thanks for the feedback, and I appreciate the discussion!
Only nit pick is it would’ve been better with painted Covenant or Banished weapons. Especially the Needler
@hollowsteel

I deliberately chose not to use painted weapons so I could have consistency with all weapons being unpainted. Unfortunately, I don’t have a painted version of every weapon.

First video I've seen of yours and it has better production value than the halo TV Series! I'll be watching your other videos for sure. One thing I thought of while watching this to enhance the animation was printing off different environmental backgrounds to replace the blue (desert, forest, urban, etc.). They don't need to have hyper detail as they will generally be out of focus in each scene, but I feel like that would immerse the viewer even more.
@hollowsteel

Thanks! They did drop the ball with the show, but I wouldn’t necessarily say my production value is that much higher-

I have a question? How do you get your stop motions so smooth? Is it the software, camera quality or like a CGI thing?
@hollowsteel
Жыл бұрын
@@haloblokbuster7991 neither? I just got really good at moving figures around. You have to take momentum and weight into account when animating, which is part of why it takes so long, but once you get it down, things can look super smooth and fluid. Framerate doesn’t make that big of a difference, aside from forcing you to take on an absurdly large work load to account for the faster frame rates.
That is some good lighting, what do you use to light up the shield flares and muzzle flashes?
@hollowsteel
Жыл бұрын
I usually use a flashlight for lighting effects, specifically ones that can focus.
