On the Origins of Fear

Why would consciousness create roadblocks such as fear on its path to growing up? The Larger Consciousness System doesn't create it, but Individuated Units of Consciousness can because they have free will and make choices and the potential was there. The creation of fear could not be prevented without also taking away free will and stunting the potential for growth and becoming love.

I keep telling everyone whom I know what a gift Tom Campbell is to humanity. Since I discovered Tom, about 8 years ago now, I have definitely evolved towards becoming a more loving entity but it has not been easy. I have worked at it and worked at it and sometimes I fall back a little. The strange thing is however, each time I evolve I have the sensation, or realisation, that I still have so much further to go. When you really immerse yourself into Tom's "model" the answers start to come naturally because the logic is flawless. I am so glad that Tom is as healthy as he is because we (mankind) need him on this earth for many years to come so that we have him to consult with. It is clear there are still questions that need answering. I was a little pleased with myself after watching this particular post because what Tom said about the origins of fear I had arrived at entirely on my own and therefore I feel encouraged that I genuinely have, or at least starting to have, a good grasp of Tom's model.

When I was young I was afraid of the dark, not anymore. I was afraid of my grandpa’s big deep voice, no longer the case. I was afraid to disappoint my parents, maybe still a little bit true but not as much. I was afraid of dying in some gruesome or horrific way, still don’t want that and if I was actually confronted with that situation I would likely hold fear. We are all shedding fear over time and evolving through knowledge. It’s okay if fear is present. We cannot just tell it to go away. We can only learn more about it until we realize the fear was unnecessarily in our minds the entire time. Thoughts?

The unconscious fear of death takes away free will , this fear blocks our union with the greater consciousness field and the true evolutionary process. Tom is correct in many ways but misses the collective origin essence of fear. This fear is at the psychological core of the human condition. To shift our awareness to have the new awareness requires entering the deeper unconscious realm to face the emotion and overcome and be free. There of course much to unpack but you need to get the correct model of our human condition.

Some people are of the mind that as monads here in spacetime we begin with perfect aware consciousness. We do not. We're full of entropy. Our game is to shed that entropy and broaden our consciousness WHILE HERE. Remember, spacetime is a 'game space' as it were. It's a place to run out scenarios in successive moments of the now. If you remember the fact that we're here for learning/growing/entertainment then we open and expand our consciousness (awareness with choices) over time. If we forget that then we keep that entropy and even add more as time goes on.

As i understand; the sapien body genetically inherited instinctual passions from it's animal ancestry. Feelings came before thought. Fear, aggression, desire, nurture etc are necessary automatic reactive passional (neurotransmitters) enabling each species the chance to avoid extinction. But often those kneejerk reactions are detrimental to the body's longevity. Here it requires sequential time to aquire mind-body coordination, so neocortical cognition automatically developed creative considered thought to extend health and life. Eventually the ancient aggressive, fearful neural pathways will be overwritten (become obsolete) and the growing intelligent benevolence of sapien consciousness will be free to explore the wonders of its 3D+ cosmos. Consciousness is a vehicle of creativity not its origin. Here, as 3D, consciousness expands its awareness via respect and compassion even for the most limited of energy expressions. Thus doors open and Love grows.

We are animals. We don't just have "animal ancestry." I believe you're discussing the theory of the reptilian brain and the monkey brain. Research in this area is finding that the may not be correct.

For those people who are listening to this and consider the possibility that this is a VR, are our choices still any more real than those made in a game like World of Warcraft? In my understanding of MBT, just like you can get a new elf in the game, your consciousness will get a new body (maybe your memory will be wiped though)

Unlike the World of War craft, we are fully immersed in this virtual reality - our consciousness thinks it is our avatar. Tom said that if we don't, we won't take things seriously, therefore we won't change on the inside.

@@andyhughes1776 If you engage with Tom’s content on a deep level, is your consciousness still immersed in this VR? What if you regularly explore NPMR and beyond (OOBE etc.)?

It seems like Tom has made the assumption that consciousness needs to evolve. The only problem is that consciousness is only an awareness and has no need for love. This “virtual reality” that has come out of consciousness needs to evolve in order to make any sense for its existence, but the awareness/consciousness has no need for evolution.

Neale Donald Walsch tells a different version in his series of books Conversations With Gods which for me makes more sense. According to CWG God is all that is. He created contrast and ignorance for the souls to experience duality. However God is already fulfilled, complete and he has nothing to gain or nowhere to go. God is just experience himself like in a video game. All the possible ends are already written. Planets, galaxies and universes are like playgrounds for the souls and nobody can get hurt no matter the horrible game you're playing. You start ignorant you keep growing till you reach completion then you start all over again.

Your argument offered in the first 10 or so words is a fallacious one. Free will is FREE WILL. Fear is not a physical impairment or true physical barrier to free will. If your argument were true, then by your logic the following must also be true: - on a Thursday you could NOT have free will to make decisions and perform an action, but 24 hours later on Friday you remarkably inherited or received the free will to make decisions and act. The logic is flawed.

  • @artconsciousness

You need to understand Tom's model of reality in more depth in order to grasp his meaning. You are confusing the concept of free-will with consciousness. Consciousness is ever changing and responding to different circumstances whereas free will is simply about the number of choices available at a given time or space. On Thursday I could not make a decision to go to school because I heard there was a murderer on the loose and I so feared going outside. 24 hours later he was captured by the police and so I felt safe to go out outside again and made the decision to go to school.
